Chad SimcoxMemberCheck out some of the videos made with the Canon HV30 (as well as HV20) on Vimeo. A lot of cool creative stuff being done with those cameras when using photo lens adapters.
As far as training… I don’t know really. Maybe Videography magazine or Lynda.com. I’ve worked as a videographer for years, but I got my start before internet training videos… Framing is just like that of a photograph. The rule of 3rds applies. Smaller field of view + larger aperture = shallow DOF. Transitions in camera or in editing? There are natural transitions achieved in camera, like someone walking in front of the lens. The show West Wing was great for it’s use of natural transitions and single take scenes. Editing wise, you need to understand what transitions mean on a psychological level. Some are for mere style, where others show a passage of time or change of place. Some inflict emotion. For the most part, straight cuts and dissolves are all you need. A lot of people tend to over use/improperly use transitions when editing.
I’ve been working in TV production and post for 10 years and am still learning and studying. I study by watching the work of others and reverse engineering it or watching for what is working and what isn’t working. Magazines can be useful as well…http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

MemberEric,
iMovie ’09 has what looks to be some pretty snazzy image stabilization.
They have some sample video.

MemberAm wondering if the future of the Itinerant boards will soon include a large VIDEO category right beside “Photography”? Heaven knows, I am being slowly sucked in to that medium. I had a blast last year with my pocket sized Sanyo Xacti. shannon
