MemberHey Allyn– ummm I don’t really know what to call them… the top pattern I was kinda going for a copper bugger type of fly but I used a dubbing loop with a blend of some cool flashabou dubbing that I found… It basically comes from being a cross DDH leech/bugger thing… the second fly I just really was experimenting with the Chartreuse/white combo and went with a chartreuse marabou tail/white rabbit fur, sparkle body dubbed body/chartreuse marabou collar to see what I came out with… still no idea for a name… I tend to experiment…
The partidge and orange I have to say that I am really happy with how that pic came out, it kinda wow’ed me a bit and gave me hope that I was doing something right…
As for fish catchers, I hope so, at least 2 months before the water unfreezes, and then I’ll get to test them out… thanks for the feedback!

MemberThanks for those links Neal! Those articles are great… Rather than hijack Allyn’s thread I created one with my first ever attempts at the same thing…
Maarten – those are some awesome pics and ties!

MemberJust got an email from my fishing buddy on the AK trip. He ran across some video that we had forgotten about. It would be comical if I wasn’t so freakin’ scared 🙂
Oh wow! That is awesome and terrifying at the same time! I was nervous just watching the footage… awesome stuff!

MemberYeah I know it’s a good distance away…. He landed up fishing those waters a lot though… Total brain fart on my part as I should know better… I worked for Tiffindell Ski resort for a few years, mainly at the shop in Jhb but visited the resort a lot… Never got to fish those waters though, but my buddy did, quite frequently…

MemberNice! I just found and joined this forum and as I am originally from South Africa this thread is a real treat… One of my best friends and fly fishing rivals went to Rhodes University and fished a lot of those waters… some excellent fishing to be had there!
