MemberJohn, I am interested in your steelhead comment. I am not aware that steelhead are in the Smokey Mtn Nat’l Park? However, I am not very knowledgeable about Santeetlah Lake. Have you (or anyone else) caught steelhead in the park?
Stephen, Christmas with the IA T-shirt – that’s great. I hear what you’re saying about hitting the water, sometimes you have to weigh all the pros/cons and make an informed decision on wether to go out (sometimes you go no matter what). Great comment on the donuts and coffee, I love powdered donuts while driving to the river and pimento cheese sandwiches while fishing.

MemberGary, FlyG,
The water is a bit stained but it had been raining for about two days prior to this trip. I assumed that was related to the tannin stain. Overall I must say that the water was pretty clear and healthy looking.

MemberCarter,
Nice tip on the use of a grey background for calibration.

MemberStephen,
This is a good topic and we discussed it earlier in the fall http://www.itinerantangler.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1192473241/11#11
I started tying my own leaders recently with the help of some guys from this site.

MemberForgot to mention . . . The jacket is shown with a velcroe fly holder on the front left pocket on the CV webpage, my jacket did not have this feature.
Neal Osborn
MemberDustin,
The Cloudveil 8X wading jacket is one of the best fly fishing purchases I ever made!!!

MemberCameron,
I took a closer look at that those awesome midge boxes you posted on the first page. I noticed that you don’t have any midge hook threaders. I find the threaders to be invaluable when fishing midges which is usually in colder weather with cold fingertips.
I also enjoyed your article on midge fishing and midge fly boxes http://www.flyfishohio.com/Fly_Box_Porn_Cameron.htm.

MemberMike,
It is a good idea to listen to guys like Joel and other guides, they are very knowledgeable when it comes to technical questions like yours.

MemberMGH,
Very nice desk, thanks for posting the link with detailed build information.

MemberFor completeness of the thread let’s not forget Rim Chung’s RS2 (Rim’s Semblance #2). It is my understanding that he only fishes this one fly! There are a few guys out there who only carry one box of RS2 flies and maybe one or two other patterns like it but they truly understand how to fish it in ALL situations and their casting skills allow them to do so. Just some food for thought.

MemberI love the C&F fly boxes also.
