I was very impressed with the Olympus 770SW underwater camera on this trip.

I just picked up the Olympus 790 SW a couple weeks ago.

    Neal,

I sure am glad you posted this. I am considering buying this particular camera. I am looking for a small, pocket sized, quality camera to replace my oooold Toshiba that finally broke after 10 years of faithful service.

I purchased an Olympus SP510-uz to take on a family vacation this past summer. It is a great camera and takes great pictures. It is just too big framed a camera to keep in your pack or pocket while hunting and fishing.

I also like the fact that the 770SW is not water resistant, it’s water proof. Like you said, it’s submersible up to 33ft. (35 by your calculations, lol)

Since you took it diving over 30ft, i’m sure it will do everything I want it to do. I am always worrying about taking a dive in my waders and ruining a camera.

I’m looking into getting one of those for my wife for Christmas. The only downside I can find is it seems to lack in macro capability which I… ooops… she might use for taking pictures of flies. I only tried extreme closeups in the store. Did I do something wrong?

next time don’t use te underwater mode and use daylight whitebalence, all of these pictures are way to blue for my tastes (what underwater mode does)
