MemberBoth Bill Bishop’s, High Rollers, and Donald Larmouth & Rob Fordyce’s, Tarpon on Fly, say that the hook should be sharpened by creating a triangular shaped point, with three cutting edges.
What do you guys think??Mike, when I started Tarpon fishing I thought the guys were obsessed with the hooks.

MemberWhen are we going fishing Bob? You can’t tease me with pics of your new rod and not have a plan or ulterior motives! That is a beautiful stick. Let’s go catch some poon.
Who is John Galt?

Here in the states, where the fishing pressure is high and the fish are selective, we use 1/0 or even 1’s. Bigger is not always better. The KEY is to keep the hook point sharp. Bring a diamond sharpener with you at all times and constantly keep the hook sharp (especially after hooking a fish or even if you ding the side of the boat with the fly).
What makes a good Tarpon hook? Sharp sharp sharp and good ability to penetrate the hard mouth. Stick em Jackie!

MemberI think he used something like a bodkin to melt part of it and because the middle is hollow, it sits on the hook well with just a bit of super glue.
::) ::) ::) 😉 😉 😉

MemberI quit worrying and started carrying my camera in my backpack or around my neck. It is a leap of faith, but eventually you need to just carry the DSLR with you if you want good pictures. The first few times were a bit scary, but it gets easier once you let go of the concern. What changed my mind was a movie about photographers in Antarctica and seeing how these guys shoot in the worst conditions possible. A good DSLR will stand up to some serious conditions as long as you know how to maintain the equipment.
I have purchased many various backpacks, camera bags, and other equipment to store the camera on the water.
