MemberWell, since there are only two guides to my knowledge on the island, it looks like this is a DIY trip.

MemberI’ve narrowed it down to either the GD or the Simms Dry Creek Boat Bag.

MemberWell, I was going though all the photos on my computer and forgot about this one. It is NOT my photograph, but it is one of my farvorites. Carter Thurman is the photographer. One of my roommates, Carter, and I all met in Kalispel, Montanta one summer to do some backpacking in Glacier NP. My roommate and I flew out, and Carter drove from eastern Montana to meet us at the airport. When we arrived Carter showed us some of the photos he had taken, and this one was among them. Not too shabby for a Fuji S5100. Carter was interning in E.Montana while researching ducks (banding). He said he saw this storm brewing in the distance and climbed a fire tower to shoot. This is what he captured.

I am pretty sure he won the AJC photo contest a couple years back.

MemberI bought the Simms bag a couple of years ago. I like it, but it’s just too big. On some planes you can’t fit in the overhead bins, so you have to stuff it under the seat. It also won’t fit through some of the narrow hatches you find on flats boats. I bought a Great Divider and like it much better.
Malcolm –
What size was your Simms bag? S, M, or L?

MemberThat’s real cool Nate. How did you make the video? Nice pictures; I saw a great one of a drake (I think) in there.

Zach – There was a drake in there 😉 That was one of Steve’s photos.

MemberBeing on a college budget is tough, especially when you want all the latest and greatest gadgets, rods, reels, gear, and guns out there.
One rod that I have purchased as a back up to my Scott and TFO is the Eagle Claw Granger. It’s a 3/4 wt., and it casts exceptionally well for a $30 investment. If you do a search over at NGTO.org you will find that others have found them to be a great casting rod especially for the money. It’s IM7, and has decent quality components. The reel seat is woven graphite like that of the TFOs. Check one out if you haven’t yet. I’ve overlined mine with 4 wt line to slow it down a little, and I love throwing dries on it.

MemberYou can go ahead and send one of each of those C&F boxes full o’ midges this way whenever you get a chance. 😉
On a more serious note, it looks like you had a great time.

MemberCarter, I heard he caught a Great Jaguar shark, a higly abnormal shark-like fish, about 10 meters in length on the long rod.
nate hammond
MemberBarta would put him in his place for sure.
