Let me start by saying, I was developing the photos in the Olympus Studio RAW development tool, that could be where some of the issues originated, as it only allows for similar changes the camera would make, sharpening is done via a scale of 2 negative and 2 positive, with single increments between them, the same with contrast and the likes.
We have PS2 on my wife’s laptop, bought and paid for by her company, but it was unavailable till last night.
Oh my Sake, what a difference that makes, PS RAW development is what they needed all along; I finally understand what you guys have been on about.

And I have done quite a lot of reading on DOF, which is why I was trying to extend it.
I shot most of the pics at about 100mm, trying to avoid that 200mm zoom, which on a four thirds mount is X2 = 400mm…
I think I am going to get a 105 macro lense and use that as my standard lense, it should give me better dof, with limited zoom.
Once again I am learning… thank you for your input.
David, this was on an Olympus e500, with a 55-200 Sigma lens with a UV filter.
After studying a few of them, I have some composition issues I need to iron out, and that impacted on the focus, but the others, it seems like I got depth of field but with the drawback of a soft image.
I understand that each one needs to be developed individually, and have been doing them one by one.
I think I have a decent workflow…
Here are 3 things I have learnt in post production.
1. Most of the images need to be 2 full points sharper.
2. Most images need Natural as the picture mode.
3. Contrast is what seems to make the picture jump.Nothing can make up for poor composition and I need to figure out why I was not focusing correctly…

My tying kit is relatively compact; it actually used to fit in a medium size tool box, vice and all. Here’s why:
1.Admittedly, I have only seen the videos, so I cannot make a justified comment, moose you are very, quite correct… it has come a long way and I am always open to new and improved, but also still like the old and inferior.
I watched the vids, it looks great, but I dont think I could get used to just spinning the materials on, and thats not all that flytying is about…

The tip did not track, it collapsed off to the side, and thus, it couldn’t hit a target at 10 foot… to top it off, I could not get a soft presentation, it either collapsed the leader, or unrolled the loop far too fast, it just did not perform the way I expected it to, to say the least, se were very disappointed…
To test it under sterile conditions, we took it onto the lawn back at the lodge, and past it around to a few serious guides, who all came back with similar answers.
Then we rigged it up against a 2 weight Vision, and the Vision knocked the sox off it…There’s another brand you should look at, I have been impressed with most of their sticks, the 1w is an absolute gem… a bit quick for my liking, but a great blue line stick…

but the price might not be right, I also like the St Croix and the TFO, but for my money, I would get a nice fibreglass stick, there used to be thread about getting a Fenwick Glass Rod, for reasonable cash. If you are serious, then thats the stick.

If I may comment on the second part…
There are many really good non-DSLR, with no lag, great focus, awesome zoom and incredible image quality. I would recommend that they go for one of these, they are relatively inexpensive for the quality of product and they are seriously simple to use.
I want to stress that the ease of use thing is why I would recommend one. Our lighty is 2 years old and we have had a DSLR for 6 months before he was born, however, my wife is so frustrated that she still can’t use it properly, so I get stuck taking all the pics.
You need a good zoom, so you are not on top of the subjects all the time, hi DPI and preferably a lesson… find a dealer who specialize in one of the cameras, then buy a lesson with the camera, on how to get the best out of it…
There are three that I recommend, and when they go to get one, it must be the latest, top of the line, if not, you will still get shutter lag.
Panasonic – my personal favorite, power camera…
