Mike McKeownMemberOh wow, what a great thread, turn my head for a moment…
OK, so I recently got some work in a local mag, I didn’t expect anything for it, the magazine is not well off, they try hard to deliver local content, for the public, but times are tough. They have done stuff for me and, in return I wanted to give them something.
However, in the post a rived a token of their appreciation, just a few Dollars, but better than a kick in the pants.
I agree with most of the stuff written here…
Morsie, Aaron and the other pros, if someone asks you for it, and you deliver, then you deserve your remuneration. FULL STOP. You are pros and like everyone else has said, you can’t ask for a freebie at the body shop. For the rest of us, if we submit it, unsolicited, then we cannot expect to be remunerated for it. However, if we then get asked to do more work, then if becomes a business transaction.
My thoughts…
Mike McKeownMemberThanks You…
Doug, you shure can take a pretty picture…
Well done, and thank you for sharing.
Mike McKeownMemberThe materials in my rods are mined in the Gulf of Tonkin. 😉
ROTFLAMAO…………………….
But soon to be graphite, just burn them…
Mike McKeownMemberOK, so where did AO’s first post go???
Mike McKeownMemberGreat Stuff, my little one is “twoo an alf”, as he says it… how old is Hudson??

Mike McKeownMemberHi Eric, I am in South Africa, those were shot in a private game lodge with an open fence in to the Kruger Park.
Kena is one great destination, but some of the other “back” countries also make for some awesome photo safari’s… The Concgo jumps to mind, and the Goliath Tigers there would make for some epic fishing…
Zach, Tigers up to 50lbs…
Mike McKeownMemberI own and love a Olympus 770, awesome pics from such a rugged P&S…
But dpreview has done a great comparison on water proof P@S’s.
Mike McKeownMemberGreat pix Mike.
I like the tight framing on the cheetah kill and the stone olive, the light on everything, and the way you can just see the lion in the night shot – I would have shit myself as well.. ;D
The only negative I would add, is the slightly cropped feet of the pig looks a little sloppy.
My favorite shot is the Vultures..
Thanks David… the Lions were late in the evening, that was shot wide open at ISO400, I bumped the ISO up, but the shutter speed went for a ball of crap…
The pig was tough, he kept bloody moving.
I like the tree too, one of the better ones, cant wait to print it…….
Mike McKeownMemberThanks Lauren, I didn’t take a photo of everything… seen most of it before and some is just plain boring… lol…
Vervet Monkeys all over the place

Mike McKeownMemberNot to hi-jack, but did you see this baby????
Stabilized 500mm f4.0 – $7 000.00

Mike McKeownMemberI would like to add this pic to the mix…
I was trying to make everything other than the face of the big female seem less intrusive, thus leaving just that bock in the middle of the pic. Creating “noise” to draw your attention to something quite.
Dont know if it worked, but was a try…

Mike McKeownMemberCouldnt get time to read the whole thing, but it does rock…
Mike McKeownMemberTaa guys, but Shauns cover is a dirrect result of the threads here….
