MemberWhen I am shooting video or packing my camera on the stream — my pack of choice is the Fishpond Shooting Star backpack with a small drybag in it that I keep open (think of this as a simple inner liner for the bag with the added ability to roll it closed if it pours) and inside that I keep a Lowepro Toploader 75 which will hold my D70 w/ 80-200 ED attached to it.

MemberI haven’t really messed around with lightroom — although I downloaded it and am going to start looking at it pretty hard.

MemberI haven’t chimed in yet, I did once on John’s FFAM Board awhile back about the subject but haven’t really chatted about it since.
I am a self-admitted big fish guy. I love to catch big fish. If given the chance to catch a 20″ stocked fish in a tailwater or a small wild trout on Crane Creek in Missouri than I am going to choose the 20″ fish every day. I am sure it is a fly fisherman lifecycle of some sort, and I am starting to appreciate a certain wild trout stream about an hour from my home more and more….but i wonder if it is due to its convienience or if it is because of the wild nature of the stream.
All that being said, Missouori doesn’t have many streams where trout naturally reproduce. The trout parks of Missouri during the fall and winter are open to C&R fishing and offer a chance to catch some 25″+ fish going through the motions of the spawn in shallow water. Do I fish to them…..every chance I get.
If I am fishing below the dam on the Norfork or Bull Shoals during the spawn am I going to throw at a 20lb fish I see in some shallow water…..yup…..every day of the week. But I am not going to continually throw at it if it isn’t actively feeding.

MemberI had the pleasure of fishing with Tim Doyle in February on the White River in AR, and then again in June on his home waters. I will agree — Tim knows where the big boys live although I never did hook up.

MemberThe guys that plan the FFM contest are in a tough position. Competitive Fly Fishing is in a tough spot in the US. In my opinion, the younger guys in the sport want to see it (as I do) but they must overcome years of the perception of flyfishing being “the quiet sport.” What is worse, to have the tournament at a private pay to play place (no different than the golf tournaments the PGA has its tournaments on) and hope that competitive fly fishing catches on. Or do you hold the tournament on a public fishery and get all the negative feedback associated with bringing a film crew and tournament participants to perhaps an already maxed out fishery. Not to mention any attention that may come with having the tournament there.

Memberi checked out the bag posted by Drifter and there just doesn’t appear to be any waya DSLR would fit in that bag.

MemberI use the Simm’s Roll Top waist bag as my on stream wading bag.

I will say that I am not sold on the fact that it is submersible.

MemberI watched that movie last weekend.

MemberOut of curiousity…….what are the chances of Nikon and Fuji joining forces on the sensor development side of things………………..suddenly that would put cash and R&D into the company.
That might sound far fetched……but perhaps not so far fetched either.

MemberI originally thought it was the mirror but after cleaning both the upper mirror and the large mirror, the problem wasn’t solved.
With the wierdest luck, I happened to have a visitor in my office this afternoon who was a former naval photogapher. I used his expertise and asked his opinion, within minutes the sensor was cleaned. He used compressed air, and cautioned me the same way that you did, but he says the trick is to keep it about 2 feet away from the camera and to keep the bottle verticle so it doesn’t develop the super cold air / moisture. He used to shoot all Nikon gear while in the service, and during his training this is how he was shown to do it.
I still don’t think I will try the compressed air on the sensor tought and think I am still going to get the swabs (does anyone have a preferred brand / method) just in case, but it appears all is fine now.
