I dont even worry about the “added” tippet unless I nymph fish with a scud…

but Id rather throw big sculpin and streamer at high noon with 8lb line.. then watch a float all day with 7x tippet

Like you said its more of a brief case type….
but I havent even got started yet….

in reply to: Alternative to the Bugger Beast? #26631

    Hey Zach..

how big of a box are you looking for??

I’ll post a couple of pictures of some boxes Im working on…(tomorrow)
these are big boxes and cannot be carried around in a vest… although one of them can fit in a rain jacket (or at least mine).. it perfact for those rainy night when only a few flies work.

    I use Maxima…

    **** remember the spoonbill****
    caught on 8lb Maxima….

even when Im nymphing during the day I’ll use 6lb Maxima…. but use 8lb when throwing big sculpins…

at night I mainly use 8… both spinning and as tippet….
If I ever run out on the water… well I have the spinning rod spool as a back up….

in reply to: How is gas affecting your fishing? #26313

you guys re right about what we use daily..

    But think about this..

In my house I have 2 boy and baby girl the wife and myself..
we go though a gallon of milk in a day and half…. (up to 4 gallons a week)

we have a dishwasher but dont use it that often.. its just easier to wash them by hand (and saves a little on water and electicity)….
    we eat 3x a day + snacks(the kids and me…Im a stay-at-home dad by day).. So I do dishes twice a day.

    the cough medicine..
No I dont go though a gallon a week.. But with a nurse as a wife I have 5 different type.. there is a type for every condition you can think of…. and the winter we may buy up to 8-10 bottles…

    Laundry…
I wash and fold about 2-3 loads a day (Just to keep up with it)…. you miss one day and it takes a week to catch up…LOL
(we go through about 3 bottles a month).

Trust me… we go through a lot more everyday items then you think.

in reply to: How is gas affecting your fishing? #26307

even though gas is an everyday item..

what else do we use everyday that cost the same (or as much) as gas…

    Red diamond tea ………………………………… $ 3.89 a gallon

    Milk…………………………………………………… $ 4.89 a gallon

    Laundry Soap…

in reply to: Hare-ball leech #55998

I guess you could use just about anything as for as the connetion goes..

I tied some up using Dacron backing (30lbs)..

Im sure you want to stay with something soft..
Shoot If it came right down to it.. Im sure you could even use 30-40lb spider wire.

    Leonard

in reply to: Hare-ball leech #55996
