MemberOne tip, supposedly sea trout like a popper/dropper combo. That’s what I was told by the guys in Louisiana and they know what they’re doing. If you find an area with a little current rip, tie on a popper and run about 3′ of line off the bend of the hook (use a clinch knot to tie it on), then put a small clouser on there. Pop the popper like normal but also use it like an indicator. Seems like it would work.

Way to get your ‘sea’ legs. Zach, the technique you mention above is also a good one for late summer smallmouth fishing.

MemberI’m obliged to reply, by way of karma.
I was there in June of ’09 for a conference and fished for half a day on some private water very near the resort.

MemberShane, I purchased a scadden mekenzie drifter last year and got a lot of use out of it. However pumping up by hand every time while my buddy came up with various reasons to show up just as the last pump of air was going in was definitely a pain in the arse. Will be investing in a powered pump this season for sure, and bring the one that came with the boat for emergencies.
I fish the same boat.

MemberGet a 15 dollar 12volt pump from a big box store, and a hand pump.
