I did the same, though in retrospect, I should have done the same more and bought every gun, rod & reel I could ever find a need for, not to mention a boat or at least a kayak. And it is a sweeeeeet reel! I am trying to find justification for one myself.

To be honest, not really. I have been fishing cork drags for several years in the winter with no problems. If you don’t dunk your reel you shouldn’t have to worry about that. Also this reel is going on my TCX 7126 for Skamania steelhead, so it will not be used much in the winter.
