http://www.orvis.com/store/productchoice.aspx?pf_id=96GX&dir_id=758&group_id=12295&cat_id=12296&subcat_id=12297I just went to Yellowstone with my son and we packed 2 sets of waders, 2 sets of boots, belts, and a vest in the bottom compartment and 9 days worth of my clothes in the upper compartment (used those bags that you squeeze the air out of to compress the clothing to get more in).

MemberTim,
My favorite part was the opportunity to spend some quality 1:1 time with my son away from Xbox, text messages and other distractions. As for the fishing, the float trip on the Madison was a blast.
Our favorite walk/wade fishing was Blacktail Deer Creek and Nez Perce Creek.
We cut our teeth fishing the small freestone streams in the Smokey Mountains.

MemberOne thing I forgot to mention was our guide on the Madison float trip.
jeff s
MemberTo help me always remember the trip, I just had to pick up one of these while out there:

Now, I’m back home in Kentucky wishing the view out of my bedroom window still looked like this:

and managed to hit an evening caddis hatch on the firehole (which is still fishable for now)

jeff s
MemberThe Madison was flowing strong but quite fishable:

We saw a bunch of these guys hatching:

MemberMost anglers who respect the resources would I think be carefull about and around “sensitive” systems. So in part I agree with you. If its *that* sensitive maybe we shouldn’t be fishing it either.
John,
I’m not disagreeing with you.jeff s
MemberBut, if a river is truly small and stressed, and angling it is likely to damage it, then the writer needs to hold off, or choose to write about the river in a different way (such as in a news article on how TU groups are restoring said river).
jeff s
MemberJust curious how people here feel about young authors selling out your favorite trout water just to get their name in print? Personally it really gets on my nerves! Some places need to remain secret in my opinion. As a guide I want to get my people on fish. It is my job. But I would never take anyone to my “special” waters if I knew they would go there on their own.
One of my favorite authors is Greg Thomas because he has the integrity to not sell out these waters and still writes a great article that makes one want to do their research and find their own special waters.
How do the rest of you feel?
Joel
Joel,
I have mixed feelings.jeff s
Memberis likely to contain ungettable materials tied in a completely non-descript way.
Reminds me of a story I heard from another fisherman (if a fly fisher told it, it has to be true, right?).
This fellow was catching a lot of fish.

MemberI’d share a stream with Ms. Amber anytime.

MemberPaul,
Nice fish.jeff s
MemberWhile not quite up to wolves and road kill casserole, the funniest thing I had fishing was when a buddy and I were fishing a small creek here in Kentucky.
We got pretty close to where the creek joins the Licking river and it started getting deep enough that we couldn’t wade.
We decided to climb out and cross a corn field back to where we put in and fish the stretch again.
The banks were very steep and very muddy.

MemberI hold a Florida saltwater liscense, so it doesn’t directly affect me. My problem is that this is another invasion of privacy by the Federal Government. The only purpose of the bill is to track recreational fishermen. It amazes me how we have become so accustomed to government intrusion, that we don’t even recognise it anymore. (I hope the Feds aren’t monitoring this site :-?, if so, nevermind.)
Bob,
Just don’t pay any attention to those black helicopters hovering over your house. -
