MemberMicheal,
I went to Belize for the first time this past September. Unfortunately, I don’t have feedback in regards to El Pescador. I assume I booked with the same shop (Tres Pescadores) Randy did and I did not have a positive experience. I arrived on the tail end of a bad storm and received no correspondence from the fly shop after sending an email regrading conditions, and the first of my two full days of fishing was cut short due to bad conditions with a promise of extra hours the second day. (I did not get those extra hours) To avoid a lengthy rant, I’ll just say the guide and shop service lacked in several areas that I consider pivotal for a successful and enjoyable guide trip. I would NOT recommend the shop or the guide (Albert) that I fished with. I will be back, as I saw the potential of the fishery, I just won’t fish with Tres Pescadores fly shop or Albert. Hope this helps.Jay Waide

MemberAdam,
Here are some pics of the new gunnels I installed on the South Fork. I cut them to 14’x.75″x1.5″ from a single piece of ash, routed the edges, sanded and finished them with a couple coats of teak oil — they really add to the rigidity of the boat when rowing. I moved the oarlocks back flush, returned the anchor bracket to center and resealed all the storage boxes. My next winter project is going to be glassing in a pvc pipe to the inside of the boat to conceal the anchor line. I’ve also posted a pic of a pretty brown from the inaugural float down the Watauga two days after I got the boat. The second fish is the biggest I’ve boated in the skiff so far, a 26″ beast my buddy Tyler caught on the Watauga last Tuesday.Jay Waide

MemberI agree the coloration of the fish and the size of some of the fins make the fish appear to be wild, but if you take a close look at the pecotral fin it seems to have been clipped or damaged.
