I have a float trip planned for the lower Nolichucky tomorrow and would like to know the maximum flow that is still fishable.

    Zack,
I have to ask what was the facts with the river, and which class was the exam.

Here is the link for the river flows and average flows.

When checking the Nolichucky flow rates at Embreeville, anything above 1500 cfs is fast and usually muddy. This will put a damper on fishing. We have had a bunch of rain along the upper Chucky and into Western North Carolina where it starts.

So to answer your question I like to stay under 1500 cfs when taking clients to fish the river.

I know of a person/character who lives along the Nolichucky and his nickname is Catfish. He is truly a character.

    Listen to Randy,

I know very little about the CFS flows of the Nolichucky, but I do know it’s one of the most dangerous rivers I fish due to it’s ledges and numerous barely submerged shelfs.
