Maybe Argentina next winter, stuck in Steamboat for the winter.Tough, but someone has to do it.Snowing now, about 3 inches per hour, might break 300 inches so far for the season.
    Dan-no sympathy
    Tim-even less,you’re in New Zealand,how is summer?

I have a Orvis Battenkill magnum duffle for 15 years of guiding, been all over the place, needed some stitching, but fits a 38″(6″dia) rod tube in the top compartment,a seperate hard bottom compartment. Also doesn’t have a handy logo that invites thieves.Buy TSA approved locks, use you home insurance for all your goodies.Price is right on Proguide or Elog…

Have you tried Tubes Jason or the 300 f4?
Our streams are only rarely clear enough to try this, but I think Id be tempted to use the 300 f4 and or tubes on a 100-400

    John-
    I’ve always had trouble with shutter speeds on the 100-400,with a CP,tried tubes,but couldn’t get the results I wanted,the 300mm has too long of a min.focus for me.Would like to try a 200mm 2.0 with a 2.0x though.Never used a higher end prime,would like to.
Corey-thanks,those midges can see the fish coming and take off, more aware then I thought…
Tim-I’ll be ready when your internship is over, just let me know.

Tim-buy a remote for your point and shoot if available, and a small tripod(lots of options)set the camara up halfway down your pool or run,and kneel in front of the camara and take a few test shots.Think head, shoulders, fish, don’t hold the fish out, place the camara closer, fill the frame with the subject.

Bob-the monofilament goes in one side and out the back, then you tie the hook, and pull it up into the tube, leaving the gap and point exposed…and it won’t work on still water, unless you strip like crazy,I guess, its really meant for current…like skating a caddis down and across for trout.

Bob-Any tube fly tied on a plastic tube can be hitched, the ones from the Iceland tend to be small- 1/2inch in length,by closing the front of the tube, and melting holes with a needle just behind the head of the fly,and threading the tippet through, you can make it “hitch” or create a V wake, just like a Bomber for steelhead(you hitch them so they skate longer between dryouts, and presenting the fly when it skates.)
