I’ve been guilty of this in the past…and will probably fall for it again in the future.
The last time I purchased a rod I tried four different rods in a “blind” test.
Finding feeding fish is definately the key – try Whitlock’s carp flie and for extra action, dip the fly in Vanilla for twice as many eats.

Great work Neal — The Toad is one of my all time favorite flies. Along with Tarpon, variations work well for bass, reds, snooks….awesome post.
I’ve fished down in Islamorada with B. Hoffman – It’s a cool place. I’d like to spend more time in the backcountry where the fish don’t get as much pressure.

“No word as of yet. It looks like the guy wanted to disapear. Usually when someone goes missing you find something. I know the guy. I fished him last year. Just cant imagine why he would want to. If he was kidnapped there would have been a ransom call, if eaten by a croc they would have found at least a shoe. If a heart attack well buzzards would be flying. I doubt we’ll ever know. Hes prob in Belize.”
Either way, a very sad thing for his family.
