You know crocodilians have a habit of stashing kills or carrion in essentially undercut banks where it can putrify and become nice and easy to rip apart and swallow.

Different croc – about 14ft. This one was hunting pigs in wallows behind the pandanus clumps – until we hooked a barramundi.
Who’d be a bird in a billabong.
This was the most troublesome croc I ever came across, not big but had no fear. In this area of half a mile of bank there were probably a dozen crocs but this one was a really hard case. I think it might have been “re-located” pretty soon afterwards.

Flat Dogs scare the shit out of me…
There are 2 spots I loved, note the past tense, till we got there one day to find 2, 15 foot Flat Dogs sunning themselves right were we start wading…
So we bugger off to the other spot to find a monster of, must have been 18 foot, drifting slowly through our honey hole, gorging itself on fish…
I mean we had fished these spots often, and wading to our armpits… it’s close to a town, and we believed there were none left there… sneaky bastards…
Not to mention the Puff Adder we almost stepped on, getting there through the long grass…
We left and went drinking… first time I have ever given up fishing for a drink… If I remember the pub owner look a little shaken when these 2 guys kitted in kwick dry everything’s, knocked on the door at 9am, and said, “We need whiskey…”
the above photo of the croc and the fish reminds me of my prom date…..
i think it might be the way she devoured the tuna surprise they served.Let’s not get onto snakes, respek to Morsie for the for the Taipan… But Puffies are the worst, they don’t move off if they feel you coming, like other snakes, even Taipans and Black Mamba’s bugger off… Puffies just sit there and puff, making like a low huffing noise, not very loud, but trust me, once you’ve heard it, you will never forget it… especially when you can’t see your feet through the long grass… and they will sit there huffing away for as long as they feel like it, when they do move, it’s not a slither, they crawl, moving little bit, little bit…
But, like I said, lets not get onto snakes…
Latest update — sounds like we’ll never know?
“No word as of yet. It looks like the guy wanted to disapear. Usually when someone goes missing you find something. I know the guy. I fished him last year. Just cant imagine why he would want to. If he was kidnapped there would have been a ransom call, if eaten by a croc they would have found at least a shoe. If a heart attack well buzzards would be flying. I doubt we’ll ever know. Hes prob in Belize.”
Either way, a very sad thing for his family.
