Brian: last time I was there was over 40 years ago, as a Boy Scout. I can’t be much help but I remember Roger Maves with askaboutflyfishing.com did a podcast on fly fishing the Boundary Waters, his guest was local guide Jim Blauch. Zac, sorry to hear about Mojo, we had to put our Llewellen down last month after 15 years of great friendship. He was a liver and white like Mojo. Lots of quirks, but a great friend.
Great film work, you might want to consider having a fishing companion with you other than a dog, someone you’re comfortable with some good natured bantering.

Man, I don’t know what you did to deserve a trip to Branson but I suggest whatever it was you don’t do it again.
That being said, I don’t have any suggestions on shops but if you want to fish a river with native fish, no stockers, go 1.5 hrs east of Branson to the North Fork of the White in Tecumseh Mo. Contact http://www.riveroflifefarm.com/ for guide services.
Beautiful float down a spring fed river for native rainbows, well worth the trip.

Zach, didn’t know about craiglook.com, I’ve been looking to buy a particular model and length Airstream the past year, gets kind of old entering different cities, thanks for the tip.
Therm a rests are a little pricey but well worth the investment. Although the cold ground won’t be an issue, if you ever find yourself tent camping you will find they insulate the cold ground better than anything on the market. They pack up nice and tight, plus you can buy an attachment for about $20 that turns them into a great camp chair.
If you are overhearing conversations about Aunt Martha’s gall bladder surgery on the river, then you should try not fishing right on top of other anglers.
Or the other fisherman should not be fishing on top of me. 🙂 Bottom line, voices carry much farther on water, and most fly fisherman wish for a little peace and quite when they’re on the water. I might add that my attitude toward cell phone use extends to restaurants too. Just call me old fashion.

Zach, if you find yourself in the Colorado Springs area I recommend you test out the Eleven Mile Canyon section of the South Platte, and also run up to Deckers and hike into Cheeseman Canyon. You won’t be disappointed, I make that trip ever year during the last week of July.
This is not a product that a fly fishing company can do much about, but I wish there was an Epipen auto-injector that was smaller, more compact for those of us who are allergic to bees. The present Epi-pen is cumbersome and is especially awkward to carry if you’re not wearing a vest that day.
I second Jim’s suggestion, I now have 3 of the Travers Corners books on hold from the local library using the interlibrary loan program. I also used this program recently to get Wetherell’s book, Vermont River.
Thinks Mike…I read a description of the series as “Lake Wobegon meets Montana”. Would you agree? I tend to like fly fishing books that use the sport as a backdrop to stories about human nature, they can be humorous or not.

Dannyo, I have heard that double axle models tow better and are easier to back in. Do you have an opinion? If so, wouldn’t it be better to go with at least a 23 footer, which has double axles. Based on that information that’s why my search has been for a 23 or 25 footer. If it doesn’t make a big difference I might start looking for a 20 or 22 footer also.

Zach: I enjoy the podcasts, really like to listen on my bike rides. I will often go back and play favorites again, always hear something that I missed before. I also enjoy the photoblog, particularly the scenes from the Appalachians. I grew up in East Tennessee but have lived in Kansas City for the past 30 years. The Ozarks are good for fishing, but the scenery is not Tennessee…the photos are well done and showcase the beauty that I took for granted in my youth.
