I have been a fan of fly fishing literature for years; from Hemmingway and Grey to Maclean and Gierach. I recently read a review of a series of short stories and books by Scott Waldie called Travers Corner. Has anyone read any of these books, if so what’s your opinion. My local library doesn’t have them, but Amazon does. Hoping to get an opinion before I buy the books.
Thinks Mike…I read a description of the series as “Lake Wobegon meets Montana”. Would you agree? I tend to like fly fishing books that use the sport as a backdrop to stories about human nature, they can be humorous or not.
Mike, it looks like these are collections of short stories. Is that correct? I was just wondering if there is a need to read them in any order. Since the first one is a little harder to come by I thought I might read the second third to see if I like it before going and trying to find the first one that is out-of-print.

Indeed these are each standalone novels, but they all have the same characters and locations.
I second Jim’s suggestion, I now have 3 of the Travers Corners books on hold from the local library using the interlibrary loan program. I also used this program recently to get Wetherell’s book, Vermont River.
