Wayne knows about the Raid1 system, and can correct this if I am wrong, but I think it is just a box that you have to put two drives in that you buy seperately. They have to be Serial ATA (SATA) drives.
The My Book drives are not (just ATA drives that I am aware). You would have to sync them using whatever software. Don’t think they would work in the Raid1 device.
I’ll have to check out the GigaOne also before I buy. Thanks for that info!

PS I think the media buddy is also fat32 format only. Sounds like an identical device.
Carter, I have the media buddy on my wish list for later this summer. I just bought some other accessories so I’m trying to spread my spending spree out. But they seem to be the most affordable of those that read many different types of cards and are battery powered. Battery life may not hold up to extended MP3 use however. But it’s rechargable.
Ben your needs are definitely in the high end range! We expect to see more photos from you ;D.
In view of what Wayne posted I noticed Office Depot and Amazon now have 500gb western digital my book drives for under $200 and 1tb for under $400. Not mirrored sata drives but you can always use software to sync two of them.

I imagine some of the Photoshop process may apply to Elements, I don’t use Photoshop as an image editor so it’s just a quess.
The image you posted would certainly be a candidate for an HDR approach I think.
Interestingly there a bunch of ways to approach this- I bet Zach’s works great as well. A while ago Fuji tried to look at some of this extended dynamic range, in a limited way, with a sensor that had small receptors in addition to regular sensors, tuned to capture highlight data alone. I wonder how long it will be before we have sensors/in camera software

My first attempt at HDR I tried to stay subtlish/natural- 3 exposure +/normal/-
I can see this being handy for posed late evening FF’ing shots
Interesting how even though the water was different in each exposure there is very little or no ghosting I can see.

Hobby Lobby also carries some nylon coated stainless steel wire. Use the 17-pound test. Works great. Don’t know how it compares to price on the fishing wire.

I used their shirts when they were first introduced in the late 90s. At that time they were hot for southern climates and the year after they introduced a lighter material. I never tried it. Also, they did not offer a tall size, so the main problem was the sleeves were too short for me. They’ve been around a while now, so maybe they’ve addressed these issues. Their bellows pockets seemed overly large and got in the way when my hand would brush down and catch the opening of the pocket.
I use the Columbia Bahama nylon shirts now. If I’m concerned about color on high sun days, I’ll wear olive.
If you wade fish small streams or perhaps flats areas where stealth is important I can maybe see the advantage.

Those images were done using the Tone Mapping function on a single Tif from Raw in Photomatix Pro without an HDR create step .
Your post deserves a response, so I’ll jump in. You’ve got to remember that you’re the boss, not the guide. Let him know from the get-go what’s expected. If he’s not cool with it, hire someone else. But it sounds to me as if this guy had an attitude that put you off. Let him know with the size of your tip how you feel about it. All arrangements regarding photography, etc., should be worked out in advance. Better luck next time.

Not sure if this helps, but, an alternate way of making popper/deer hair patterns with tubes that is really handy-

The teleconverter is actual lens magnification through more pieces of glass. The FOV crop is simply a crop of the angle of view of the lens. So you are getting 450mm cropped 1.5x.
The angle of view I suppose would be the same as a 675mm, but the image will not contain as much information as a lens in that caliber. Anybody else have info or correction on this?
