    Your post deserves a response, so I’ll jump in. You’ve got to remember that you’re the boss, not the guide. Let him know from the get-go what’s expected. If he’s not cool with it, hire someone else. But it sounds to me as if this guy had an attitude that put you off. Let him know with the size of your tip how you feel about it. All arrangements regarding photography, etc., should be worked out in advance. Better luck next time.

    The few disappointments I have had with guides were due to lack of communication prior to the trip.

    For someone who makes his living off the health of the fish in the river, I dont blame the guy for being strict about how the fish are handled.

    I agree with Tim that fish health should be a main priority, but this guide’s behavior borders on Howard Hughes-level paranoia.
