MemberMike I was just being jealous:)) I don,t have water I can wet wade in for warmwater species without the the risk of contracting some exotic/nasty ailment:)
Zach I have to say- what I find incredibly interesting and provocative about what is going on here/on the site , is that you and others keep pushing with image compositions/looks. While many may not appear tomorrow in the mags , I suspect they will over time influence ,what will appear.
Where is RiverX- GPS please!!!!

Memberthats a nice high transom, I can’t really see but do you even need a jack plate?
Jun 19, 2007 at 12:47 pm #17691Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerI didn’t see any jack plate.
Jun 19, 2007 at 1:08 pm #17692Carter Simcoe
MemberNever said anything about it not being substantial, just couldn’t clearly tell if it needed a jack-plate to get the motor up that high or not (it would be a good thing if it DIDN’T need one).
Jun 19, 2007 at 1:30 pm #17693Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerNo, I meant that the back of the boat is substantially higher than the middle of the boat; there’s a pitch of about three inches from the middle to the transom.

Memberoh, I gotcha, didn’t take it as criticism though.
Jun 19, 2007 at 1:45 pm #17695Mike Anderson
MemberThis model is made for a jet only. it doesn’t need a jack plate because they build the transom up higher. This means you can’t run a Prop job on it, though I can’t imagine why anyone would ever want to.

Memberthat’s sick. Any complaints about the jet at all? not being able to reverse, etc.?
I’m considering a small one on a jon boat for the marsh but need to figure out if they mind running in extremely dirty water with lots of loose silt on the bottom.
Jun 19, 2007 at 2:24 pm #17697Mike Anderson
MemberReverse is very slow at best. It clogs with grass all the time. Slow speed operation is a pain and dangerous. In the fall it sucks leaves and won’t run. Gravel gets hung up in it and screws up everything. No steering if the engine dies underway. You lose 30% of you HP at the jet foot because of the 90 deg turn the water has to make from the intake to the nozzle. Its soo loud you’ll need ear plugs. Gas hog. I’m sure I missed a few.
This is what I was told about jets for years, which is why I took so long to buy one. People talk out their asses a lot you know. Yes there are some issues to deal with and if not set up properly they can be a pain but what they can do is priceless if you like to run rivers and go where fish aren’t being pressured.

MemberI rode around with a guy in Texas once who had one on a jon boat with console steering.
