I was curious if anyone here has tried any of these cloths or what you think about them.

    Mike,

I bought a couple of the shirts and a vest a few years ago. I thought they were monkey ass ugly until I read the reasoning behind them, then kind of warmed to the idea. I’ve worn them mostly in the Smokies–and the mall.

Bryan they aren’t the best looking fishing shirts I agree there. I really like this Orvis Caribbean Camo Shirt but at $80 +tax I’ll have to pass :-/. Orvis……….

Does the shirt perform well? Doesn’t feel clammy on hot humid days, dries fast, buttons don’t cause a problem with your line, etc. Are the pockets well designed? Would you buy from them again? Sorry for all the questions but I hate buying clothing online sight unseen.

    Hey Mike:

I used their shirts when they were first introduced in the late 90s. At that time they were hot for southern climates and the year after they introduced a lighter material. I never tried it. Also, they did not offer a tall size, so the main problem was the sleeves were too short for me. They’ve been around a while now, so maybe they’ve addressed these issues. Their bellows pockets seemed overly large and got in the way when my hand would brush down and catch the opening of the pocket.

I use the Columbia Bahama nylon shirts now. If I’m concerned about color on high sun days, I’ll wear olive.

If you wade fish small streams or perhaps flats areas where stealth is important I can maybe see the advantage.

Thanks Scott I’m not that concerned with hiding I just like the Camo pattern. Good fishing shirts are hard to find. I do have some of the Columbia shirts and they work just fine. BTW this company does have a guide program.
