    Hey Brian –

I am going to see about mounting a hook to the bottom of the buttresses, facing down.

You may want to throw the TFO 1 reel in there as well:

My suspicion is that not only do these reels all have the same general quality, they probably come from the same factory.

Sea Dek is in.  I’ll let her dry then flip it and start on the exterior.

    Interior complete.

I would have liked for the splatter lines to be a bit lighter so they wouldn’t have run as much, but DIYers cannot be choosers.

Finished painting the base coat on the interior, with Intergrip added to the flats for traction.  I overdid it a touch and had some dry spots but a quick roll of normal paint smoothed it back out.  I’m planning on splattering it next, then the interior will be complete and it’ll be time to fill, sand, prime, sand, and paint the exterior.

Got my paint and finished the first coat at lunch.

Needs another coat of paint now and then the sprinkle/swirl.

Once upon a time there was an issue that I had written all of the front of book materials for as well as two of the five features.

    Hey Steve –

I have already Bondoed the holes in the top of the rails as a test (the previous owner had hung all kinds of things on them) and it fills and holds well.  I plan to fill all the holes with more Bondo, sand, prime with spray primer, and maybe finish with black Interlux just because I’m going to have some left over, then yes, move the holes over by a couple inches so I am drilling new holes.

Buttresses are done except for a little hand sanding.  Dremeled out all the inside edges; that worked great and was super fast.  I am a close inspection, a little final sanding, and a rinse away from painting.

That’s about as smooth as it gets since the Bondo is not voidless.  Once spackled and covered in Sea Dek it’ll look pretty good.

Popped the rub rails so I can sand and paint properly (if I had done that before all the decks went in, I was worried the boat would change shape on me.

Ok here are some better pics now that my hands are back to normal.

You can see where I leveled a couple places on the floor after marking with spray primer so I could see the high spots.  I just laid epoxy back down to smooth those out.

Now I need to sand and bondo.  Around the buttresses will be the hardest part; I will probably more or less wind up sculpting those like a clay statue by the time I am done.  But I want them to look right so I’ll take the time.

I am not in a hurry.

Dry storage before being glassed in.

    Chopped mat.

All glassed in. Terrible pic; my hands were shaking and I was trying not to get goop on my phone. I’ll get another tomorrow.

Bondo is amazing for fixing things like holes in the hull you make with the Sawsall by accident.

From now on it’s finish work.
