I wouldn’t go so far as to label yourself broad-brush as a ‘medium action’ caster. I really believe you can quickly teach yourself to make in-close casts using just the tip of a fast action rod.
See, guys who cast over the shoulder can basically just do this; they already make such a tight, controlled movement when they move their rod tips, that for them they just have to back off the power a bit and they’re tip-casting no sweat.
Those of us who throw ‘side-armed’ or with a wide-open stance just need to convert into tip casters for this one application. You can still throw short with your regular open stance-stroke, but you really have to watch how much area your tip is covering. Personally I find it to be easier just to convert to an over-the-shoulder cast for anything under 20 feet.
Practice is really the answer. I promise it won’t take much of it. Probably a couple hours and you’ll be able to make that cast whenever you want.

The only, and I mean only, good news out of this is that oil is actually biodegradable in warm water situations.

There’s two ways to skin this cat.
(1) Yes, you could go to a medium-actioned rod or re-rig to over line the rod (even the T3).

Beautiful shot John! Walking up to the stream to see all of those guys in that first shot would have led me to the nearest brewery immediately.
I hike and fish in my waders all the time, but it’s usually in winter time when temperatures don’t make me hot.
The main thing right now, really the last issue, is that the images appear to be loading a bit slow initially.
Best solo shots I have seen have the trout upright with his belly in the water, usually resting on some rocks.

As always, you should have local spyware protection on any Windows machine, while Macintosh computers are not affected by this particular kind of bug (the one which was on this site). If you are running a Windows computer without spyware protection, I recommend downloading and running AdAware from Lavasoft, which is free and does a good job of cleaning up computers.
It looks like my host is primarily getting hacked in the overnight hours.
This is not my issue, guys; this is an issue with my host’s shared hosting package security. There’s nothing I can do except clean it back up. Which I am doing now; the site evidently got hacked again last night but I’m set up to clean it quickly now.
Specifically, for those of you who speak computer, my host, Network Solutions, has had an issue with its global permission settings in the root directory for the entire shared server I am on.
I use Kayak.com and select a date range, then also select area airports. Farecompare.com is another good one. You would be surprised at how much variation you can get in ticket pricing for small airports within a limited range. For example, last year I flew to Jackson, WY from Atlanta for about $380 per ticket.
I narrowly missed buying tickets into West Yellowstone for only $279 per ticket. We delayed while waiting to see if we could work out logistics (we were traveling with a couple who had already bought tickets into Jackson). The deal passed.
For a while, Idaho Falls was trying promote its airport and it was by far the cheapest flight in the Mountain West. In 2008 I recall seeing one ticket into Idaho Falls for $179 from Atlanta round trip in the height of summer travel.
Generally speaking, tickets will decrease in price until they bottom out about 4 weeks before flight time. Then, between 14 and 20 days before flight time, they will begin to increase until ultimately they will be the most expensive on the day of travel. Contrary to popular belief, buying 4 months ahead of time is not going to get you the best deal; rather you’ll get the standard or average price for that flight.
Be prepared to act quickly when you’re almost exactly 4 weeks out and you won’t be sorry.
