Did the all-important fishing test today and this fly is awesome.  It goes crazy in the water; twisting, flashing, cutting side to side.  It didn’t twist the leader however.  I guess it must rotate then counter-rotate enough to keep things about even.  I might still fish it on a swivel for a true spinner action.

The irony is, the fly is so light, you could actually use this technique to make a spinner bait-type fly.  Someone ought to try that.

Here, keep in mind this is just my third attempt.  Like I said, easy to make fishable flies.  Maybe harder to achieve technical perfection.  I think I need to mix my glitter thoroughly with Hanson’s before applying – these were done with a dip-and-dab method that made the coating chunky.

Also, I need some kind of release agent for the siliputty – it doesn’t exactly grab but it’s not perfect. Any suggestions?
