Haven’t actually made or used one of these, but I did run into this article in a recent MacWorld magazine. Sounds interesting:

Lifting a Pacifico in San Diego for that St. Croix Zach. I lost my original fly rod (Sears fiberglass) in a car door via an old girlfriend. Got rid of her right when we got back from that trip.

I have Sagebrush’s Hip and Deck Pack and love it.
Although I have not tested it by dunking it in the water, you can zip it shut and squeeze it as hard as you want and air will not come out. So I believe it to be airtight, thus waterproof. I have only heard good things about this company and would highly recommend their products.
John. I really dig the Coopers Hawk image. Can you share the exif data? At least camera and lens….
Anyone, how come you can download some images and see the exif data in Photoshop CS2 and others are blank?
Thanks for the kind words on the images. I really didn’t intend on inlcuding the angler in the second one, especially with that thing hanging out of his mouth at 7AM
Great post guys, very informative. Eric, I like the images, especially #3. The last one just reminds me of something I see people complain about on fishing boards and that is when fish are held out from the body to make them look bigger. Although #5 is different it just reminds me of those types of images. Good work (and it looks like good fishing) nonetheless! Thanks for sharing.
Matt, pez gallo (the Roosterfish) still eludes me as well. Seen lots of them just haven’t got one to eat. In addition to the above flies I would pack some of Trey Comb’s Sea Habit Bucktails, Blanton’s Whistlers and you can never go wrong with Lefty’s Devievers. Some people also swear by Hightower’s Tres Generaciones fly. Check out the inshore and offshore flies on Jay Murakoshi’s Flies Unlimited website (http://www.fliesunlimited.com/) and the fly gallery section of Gary Bull’s website (http://www.garybulla.com) to get some additional ideas of colors and sizes. Both of these guys spend a lot of time in Baja each year and thier websites and fishing reports will provide lots of inspiration for your trip.
I agree with Carter on the loop knot. Good luck Matt I hope those fish that you have been dreaming about become a reality in Baja. Just beware, Baja will draw you in and require all of your spare money and time for years to come. It is a sickness, but welcome to it ;D
Matt, thanks for the kind words on the flies. Those are Eagle Claw 413’s, you can find them all over the place I happened to get mine from saltwaterflies.com.
I find that I get a better than average strike to hookup ratio with them. I live in San Diego and fish Baja at least three or four times a year in a variety of areas from the beaches just south of the border to Cabo. I have flyfished for everything from Perch to Marlin south of the border and absolutely love it. When and where are you going and what are you going to fish for?

Funny I too have recently found a small pond with a number of orange bruisers in it here in CA.
Matt, here are a couple of Clousers tied on jig hooks that I have had luck with in Baja, both off the beaches and offshore.
White over Gray
and White over Olive
White over blue is another outstanding color. Good luck you are going to have fun.
Thanks Malcom. Bummer that you cannot view RAW images though. I never travel without my iPod for music. In fact every night at Pesca Maya this past summer we used it as a jukebox by tapping into the lodges stereo. The poor owner (Rogelio) was not always overly excited by the mixes of music that came out, but several of the guests would borrow the iPod to keep them company until all of the cold beer was properly dispatched.
Does anyone know if the iPod Photo could fit the bill. If there is a way to transfer images from the camera to the iPod without a computer it could be ideal. You could have a portable hard drive and some music to boot. Just a thought.
