Chasing Greatness. A book about the 1973 U.S. Open (golf).

    Excellent book.

Don’t mean to put a downer on this thread, but with this bedbug infestation I’d travel only with hard-shell luggage.

Luggage is one of the biggest transporters of the bugs.

Michael’s book is good. I heard it’s back in print, but I’m not sure.
I had to spend a lot of money for a copy.

I know it was a joke. All kidding aside: I’m not sure how to handle the situation I mentioned.

Should I just not fish the long run because I might have to pass someone in the water?

(I hate having to sacrifice so much of the stream.)

Yes, most anglers don’t mind, but a few get angry, even though there is no way to exit the stream.

Excuse me. New York State is the birthplace of fly fishing in America.

Theodore Gordon is buried in Manhattan. The Angler’s Club is also here.

    Go Columbia (football)!

    Good list!
The problem I often have, however, is that I’d like to fish a long run, but there are exit points on the banks as they are lined with bushed that have thorns.

In the past when I’ve passed behind anglers in the water some got real mad and accused me of disturbing their water; so now I’m reluctant to fish the run.

    Should I be?

I mean if someone were to wade past me, I’d just wait a few minutes then start fishing again.

I don’t know what else to add, except that I too am glad that your daughter and nanny are all right.

Ebooks are a blessing from a writer’s standpoint. They put us in close contact with our audience. I was, therefore, able to use the feedback I received – from many people instead of one or two – and revise my book. A printed book is locked in stone, more or less.

Maybe the way to go is to publish an ebook first, then revise and publish a print book.

Bought a Sony ereader. I love it.

Selective Trout, by Swisher and Richards. Very interesting. Changing my thinking, but I’ll never bring a portable, fly-tying kit to a river.

Here’s my question: If fly rods become so light how can they balance with today’s reels. True reels are getting lighter, but not so light.

I still think all these advances in fly-rod technology is just a marketing ploy, as technology has surpassed any usable benefit for a fly rod.

I can’t tell the casting difference between my $300.00 and $600.00 fly rod. Granted my top-of-the-line rod looks better.

    My two cents.

    Small and simple and lightweight.

IMHO, every caster is a bit different, so what works for me might not work for you.

The SLT is more of a moderate-flex rod, so keep in mind that today many, if not most, lines are a half-weight heavy. Thoses lines will slow the action of your rod. Is that what you want?

Here’s a list of fly fishing books available on Kindle:

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_11?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=fly+fishing+books&sprefix=fly+fishing

IMHO, I would publish a book traditionally and electronically.

One thing I like about going electronically is that I can make changes after the book is published.

It will be interesting to see just how well ebooks sell in the future. I don’t think anyone knows.

At first I was against them, and felt I would never want to read off a small screen, but reading from a Kindle for just a few minutes changed all that.

The Nook and Kindle have come down in price. Though I love books, love turning pages, I’m hoping to get a Kindle soon. The Kindle is much lighter than most hard cover books, and I’m tired to carrying heavy books around. The iPad, however, is twice the weight of a Kindle or a Nook. Also, the screen of the iPad is supposedly so good for reading for long periods of time.

I think ebooks are here to stay, but so are paper books.

You can always fish high tide at the North end of Roosevelt Island.
Also we have a lot of new piers.
