:DLook on ebay, you can buy a Danvise for $60 -$80. It is  atrue rotary inline and easy to operate. See Hans Weilenmann’s review of vices and prices on VFS. Also Al Beatty has excellent rotary tying DVDs on his B.T.s Flyfishing site for $20 😮 “Tap her light and she’ll always be fresh “–<(*)))><{ Paddy

😀 Felt soles are legal. WD is a moot point. You should clean your boots with 409 to get rid of New Zealand mud snails and eggs, that is the latest threat and chlorox won’t kill it ??? :'(

Mountain anglers in Breckinridge. Look at http://www.coloradofishingnetwork.com they have stream and river flow reports, hatch charts and great fish tails for all waters in Colorado. Lots of other streams in that area ;D Welcome to Colorado 8)

in reply to: Magnifying glasses?? #11716

I would go with the clip-on-your glasses magnifiers rather than the hat type. They’re easier to use because of the focal length and work better with bifocals. You can use them and flip them up to fish or stick them in your pocket ;D

in reply to: egg patterns #55000

I was in Michaels yesterday and bought some of these ! The 5mm are smaller than I usually tie, so I ran a Kevlar thread through 3 of them ( red ones) and tied a cluster on a#10 hook. I also got the 10 mm and put them on a #8 egg hook. Very easy, just put a few thread wraps in the center of the shank and add a drop of super glue and slide the egg (pompom) on top of it. If it crowds the gape just trim it a little with scissors. On the Green river, we used the orange or cerise ones as an attractor and ran a dropper from the hook bend with a prince, copper john, BHFT, GRHE etc about 18″ from the egg. Works great! 😮

in reply to: Soft Hackle #54982

There are 79 soft hackle patterns in the fly pattern archive at http://www.flyfisherman.com. In addition, there is a good article there about tying in partridge hackles so that you can use any size hackle for smaller flies and you don’t have to have a feather specifically for the size hook you are using.
