I’m in – I’ll tie something, just gotta figure out what.

One idea I thought of (Aaron inspired this one), have everyone get a box from a local shop and send the flies in that.  That way, everyone gets a local fly shop box from somewhere around the country.  Thoughts?

    Edit:

I’m taking these out tomorrow for some bass action, so I’ll report back if anything good comes from it.

According to the Seychelle website, their filter bottles filter out the following:

Aesthetic:  offensive tasting, odor, chlorine, salt

Microbiological:  Pathogens such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia and other

Chemical:  industrial voc’s (volatile organic compounds), pcb’s (polychlorinated biphenyls), thm’s (trihalomethanes), agricultural soc’s (synthetic organic compounds), detergents, pesticides, ddt

Dissolved solids:  Heavy metals, aluminum, asbestos, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, and more

So, looks like it covers the range of stuff in a stream, except maybe any pharmaceuticals that may exist?  A recent study of DC water found traces of something like a dozen different over the counter and prescription medicines.  Made me think twice about the tap water I drink….

Not to hijack Neal’s thread here, but a quick question about filter bottles.

    Eric,

I’m no expert on the Bighorn, but I was out there a couple years ago in early November.

Best part about the Huey is that it only weighs just under 6 lbs empty, so you’ve got 44 pounds you can load in it before the US airlines start charging.

I think Tim has a point – it would be interesting to hear the perspective of the manufacturer’s on the “high end” gear; stuff like the $700 waders and $100 fly lines.

    free market capitalism rules all.

    That’s certainly one theory.   😉

I think I was watching CNBC when I wrote this last night….hence the pro-capitalism tone.

I’m definitely in for the next one – I just got a new Peak vise and I’m ready to hit the bench hard.

Aaron, my girlfriend saw your big ‘ole muskie fly on the table yesterday and nearly keeled over – she thought it was a big bug or something.

    Bob,

Fair enough – I’ve never tarpon fished so that’s good to know.
