MemberBeen waiting for this :))-

and Spinners

The density of the hatch is unreal when in full swing – those pics were with my 300 f2.8 Nikon AF ED-IF
I think going to 600 with my convertor might add more compression and better convey the mating swarm density- any thoughts?

John BennettMemberAdd a 2x TC will greatly reduce your focusing speed Will.
I’d try some tubes first.Ive had better luck getting Dragons in flight with my macro than with my 400mm with either TCs or Tubes, although if some darn hatches would ever go for me when Im on scene I’ll be reaching for the 400 and tubes first.

John- ” although if some darn hatches would ever go for me when Im on scene” —
I have logged over 1500 kms in the past week hitting locales with some success , but not what I am looking for. Last night I went on

John BennettMemberAint that the truth Will.
Ive yet to see a good hatch in my life ๐ the stream behind my house and others nearby while they hold Brookies and Browns arent know for hatches. In all the years Ive fished them Ive seen maybe 5 Mayflies (Stones excluded).
If want a chance at finding some I have to travel 200km round trip to the closest and about 300/400km to the Grand (an hr and 45m, one way)
Doing what your trying to do would send me over the edge ๐

MemberTy :)) Mark never been there but heard of it often , sounds like a neat spot.
Stepping miles out of my comfort zone I decided to get a little urban with this, not sure how well this works – comments/thoughts welcome-

MemberWow! Thats a ton-o-bugs! Very cool shots. I really like that first shot and these last shots really show of the numbers! might be cool to your camera right up against the window (or that red box) and see the depth of them all stacked up!

John BennettMemberCant offer much critique Will thats out of my zone. Only thing I might say is the sky in the tp left distracts being much brighter/lighter han anything else.
On a personal note Id swear at you but that migt get me in hot water so all Im going to say is.
Bug off.
Ther are dozens more in one shot than Ive ever seen.
That represents about 500 3 hr round trips for me.
