Very cool Will – as always.  🙂

There is your answer Neal, a better compliment than I could have given.

Wondered when this was happening – and most pleased to see it has now.

I’d just like to know how you’re getting the super glue off his legs when you’re done.

    😉

    Yep – killer again Will.

John – you’ll forgive, but I could give a rat’s patootee about Grover and the PS staff as it relates to it being a lot of work.

Photographers from all over the world bit into the idea that they were a legit company, funded properly, and had more than 8 months of life in them (that’s about how long they were live out of beta).

Both Grover and Allen sold the photographers that were part of PS Collection a bill of goods – and then didn’t have a business plan worth the paper it (may have been) printed on if all they could do was stay alive for 8 months. How can any sort of critical mass build up in that short period?

Anyway – yeah – I’m still irked when I think of all the work folks put into building the Photoshelter Collection, only to see poor management cause its premature demise.

in reply to: anyone have a free exif viewer/editor recommendation? #68468

..and if you use Firefox, there’s a free exif viewer plugin for it.

You can google it, or look it up at the Mozilla homepage.

    Yep – ram will help.

External drives won’t help though – usb works, but it’s not great. Internal works off a much faster bus, so you’ll want to add another internal drive if you’re able.

A graphic card with dedicated onboard video ram will help too.

That said, 4 years is a long time to push a machine used for graphics. I’m having to bite the bullet myself – pushed my machine just over 3 years, and now I’ve a new box on order.

It’s just a fact man – these suckers do become dated.

    Good luck.

Will – I ate at that very table about a year ago!!!

    Too funny.

I’ll echo the welcome, and then say after being burned by PS when they shut their doors on their stock site, I chose not to give them any more of my time – and money.

So, it’s been SmugMug for me – cheaper, and it’s very customizable, and while it doesn’t have the pricing tools that you’d want for your own stock site, it does provide good customization tools via the DGrin (Digital Grin) forum, and it’s much cheaper to start.

Depends on what you’re after in the end.

Just back from Montana here – with a sequence of photos of a big brown being yanked out of the Madison into a kayak that are just killer. Prepping to shop the story soon – it was an absolute GAS up there – I miss it already.

    *KILLER* Douglas!

Wow – while I don’t weird out too much about heights, I think I’d have had a bit of the willies shooting from up there.

That said, I’ve noticed things that do weird me out a little (ie; spiders) don’t really at all when I’m looking at them through the lens. There’s an odd detachment that comes from viewing the world that way I guess.

I enjoyed the story about the man vs. fly rod competition.

LOL – my buddy and I have already argued about the flawed parameters under which the contest was held.

    LOL

    That’s crazy.   🙂

I’ll have to go look up his blog.  Thanks for the heads up John.

I think the lads fished with Jamie when they were in Ontario – though honestly don’t remember. I do know that he’s Ocean Kayak pro-staff, which is of course how he knows Jim – and how he also knows Jeff Herman, another one of the lads who I’ll be shooting in Montana.

Should be an epic trip – I’m really looking forward to getting into the mountains again. It’s brutally hot down here right now (though I know, it could be the same there in August! gak!!!)

    Dood – you’re right; that’s a really nice mag.

I’ll surely click through – nice stuff though, no doubt.

I figured John – I’ve done some work with them in the past. Good folks.

So yeah – it’s absolutely a natural fit for you.

    Heh John (B) … you’ll do great.

I assume you’re about to start working with Tim Schuff? Great…he’s good people.

I think you’ll find writing will come very easy to you.

And John White – just keep on keepin’ on man. You often get *zero* feedback, and while that sucks, it is what it is, and you just have to press on, just as you are.
