Justin WittMemberNice fish! And a net wielding female to boot! Sweet.
Justin WittMemberYeah, she definitely is not what you’d call purdy, but she gets the job done!
Justin WittMemberShe gets the fox comparison a lot, which is kind of bad news down here since there’s a bounty on foxes all year round. She does have it much better now than she did out where I found her, but breaking her of her chicken habit after we got her cleaned up was quite a task. To be honest I got some good hackles out of it last year, but I had to stop and pay a few neighbors for their losses in the process too. Good luck with the rest of your duck season; I guess it’s just getting started up there isn’t it?
Justin WittMemberVery cool story, and a great looking dog.
Justin WittMemberHi Grant,
Really great to hear from you, and I’m glad you liked the post. I’ve been down here off and on since 2007, when I did a six month walk from Ushuaia (down by cape horn) up here to the area where I live and work now (three provinces north), fishing along the way. If you’re bored sometime and want to see the story of that you can check it out at http://www.justanotherdayinpatagonia.com and go backwards through “Past Posts” to the beginning – there’s lots of photography and info on the areas I walked through (plus plenty of stuff on horses I’ve used down here in between) and I’ve heard that people have referred to it at times when planning trips. On the other hand, if you want to come down sometime soon and fish or hunt quail, snipe, or ducks, just shoot me an email and I’ll get it set up for you right away. I haven’t been up to the states in over a year now, and have no idea when I’ll make it back; between the fishing and the bird-hunting and the now-building-a-house project it seems like there is very little time left for the northern hemisphere. So anyway, hope to see you down here soon!
Justin WittMemberMan, I gotta hand it to you.
Justin WittMemberYeah – they’re down here too. Here’s one a client got back in March. Must be something in the water…
Justin WittMemberI have used double salmon hooks in other parts of the world, and yes it’s done, but not down here in Argentina (It’s illegal).
Justin WittMemberAnd again….
Justin WittMemberHere’s my attempt at the step by step photos – for some reason it’s only letting me upload five at a time.
Justin WittMemberReally, really nice looking boat man.
Justin WittMemberReally great photos man.
Justin WittMemberIf you’re looking to fish the White and the Norfork you’ll want to learn a little bit about scuds, and make sure you have some fairly light tippet with which to feed them to the trout.
