HI guys,
I been lurking for some time and love the site . I guess you can say I am a trout bum from the north east . I live in NJ :'( but consider the Catskill rivers my home waters .)
Currently I am reading Dec Hogans new book A Passion For Steel Head . I higly recomend this book for any spey or steel headers out there it is the best book I have seen on swinging flies. He realy breaks down the sport from casting to presenting the fly to the fish with easily understood sketches, there is some nice fish porn also.
A few of my other favorits are:
anything by John Gierch (Trout Bum is my favorite)
Bone Fishing by Randall Kaufman ( The only book you will ever need on the sport)
Fly Fishing Pennslyvania streams by Charles Meck ( a guide book)
The Longest Silence by Thomas McGuane
THe moon Pulled up an acre of Bass by Peter Kaminsky (striper fishing along the east coast)
On the run by David Dibendetto (more striper fishing)
Trico Fishing by Bob Miller ( a good book if you can find it especialy if you fish spring creeks in the east)
Trouble shooting the cast by Ed Jaworowski ( very helpfull title speaks for its self)
Land of Little rivers by Austin Francis ( history of flyfishing in the catskills)
In The Ring of The Rise by Vincent Marinaro ( a classic)
Fishing Limetone spring Streams by Charlie Meck ( A great guide book that points you in the right direction for finding and fishingspring creeks in the east.)
I will add more to the list in the future my 18 month old son is calling for me.
