The Z-Axis is a nice rod but I feel that the xp is a smoother rod. I think sage has a little ways to go to perfect the z-axis.
I work at a fly shop in Wichita, about 3 hours south of KC. There are a lot of good opportunites around KC. Milford reservoir as well as marion and marion count lake. All are good for carp, bass, walleye, and marion county lake is especcially good for whipers, i.e. the striped and white bass hybrids. Give me a call at the shop sometime and I would be happy to point you to some good fishing.

Thanks for the replies, this kind of discussion is what I was looking for. I know that everyone has their favorites but I am just beginning this process and will take all the knowlenge I can get. Thanks
Hmm…152miles. It is more like 398 miles, from Wichita Kansas to Broken Bowm OK. I wish I was 152 miles from good trout fishing, however at the moment the closest is the Lower Illinois river outside of Tulsa. I have yet to venture that way.

Some probably are, infact a few that have been hit by vehicles in western kansas were. But, I believe that some are not. I think there are wild cougars in the midwest, they may have always been here, or migrated back, that I dont know.
There are several species of animals that were once native, dissapeared and are moving back to the mid west. Brown bears are being seen more frequently in Colorado, Wolves have been seen around Ft.Collins, and Jaguars have been captured on game cameras in Arizona and New Mexico. Parts of Oklahoma, the panhandle, are beginning to report cougars sightings as well.
Yes, There is no question that they do. They are not in large numbers, but in my home state of Kansas we have seen many tracks and my father and I saw a small cougar while pheasant hunting in Kingman County, as well as countles numbers of farmers that have seen them. Why the Wildlife and Parks will not admit they are here I do not know.
I realize that Crane is a tough creek. However, even though I did not catch much of anyting my first trip there love the atmosphere. I intend on fishing that creek as much as possible and figuring it out. It is also the closest blue ribbon area to my home in Wichita Kansas, still a 5hr drive though. I fish the catch and release area in Roaring River often as well but it is not the same. We do not have trout in Kansas so a place like Crane is a nice break from our murky waters and warm water fish.
P.S. We have fantastic fishing for Bass, Carp, Wipers, etc here in Kansas, I would love to trade out some fishing here for some in Mo or Arkansas.
