Crease flies are really durable if you tie them right.  Our tarpon and snook love them and it’s one of the most awesome strikes to see.  They take a little more effort to assemble than a standard popper but I think they’re much more realistic.  They can stand up to a lot of bites which makes the time spent at the vise worthwhile.  The fish below was caught on a similar mylar Crease last spring.

     Depending on where you’re staying, there is great tarpon fishing on Puerto Rico.  The San Juan area has a lot of medium size fish in the harbors and a handful of guides to get you to them.  If you can get to the southwest corner of the island there are some real pigs down there.  A potential world record (225 lbs.) was caught on fly in Boqueron last January.  Here’s a link to an article and photo of that particular fish.
