MemberEric, I have a Helios in a 7 wt and have been extremely pleased with the performance in windy conditions. It hands down out performs my Loomis GLX. I also have a Hydros in a 10 and 12 wt. which I fell in love the first time I cast them. I know they’re heavier rods but I can only imagine an 8 wt would be a dream to cast, as is the 10 and 12. In my opinion if your only going to use it a couple times a year, if your going to go with Orvis, then a Hydros would be your best bet.
As far as flylines go I would say a Clouser would be the way to go. I have a RIO Redfish on my 7 wt and probably push it for using it late into the year but I’m happy with it. Hope this helps,
Dave

MemberI have a buddy that had a chocolate lab named “Angler”. He was a great dog, and I always liked that name. Good luck!

MemberI don’t know if your only interested in Buff, but I know Patagonia and Orvis also make gloves that provide sun protection. I kind of like to Orvis gloves and was looking at picking up a pair for myself.

MemberWe have seen quite a few dead snook in the Cape Canaveral area, some Tarpon as well. To be honest my feelings aren’t hurt that they closed the spring season. I think the effects will be felt years down the road though. FWC recently lifted the ban on collecting dead fish until Feb 1. My friend sent me this today Just look at this. Apparently, this was part of the legal cleanup of dead carcasses in Vero beach. Supposedly, the same kind of thing could be seen in Sebastian.
I hope the picture shows up it’s my first picture I have posted.dave stocks
