Have you looked into King Sailfish Mounts?
I see them a lot on the salt shows I watch and one of the shows did a special on the process once.  I believe they would do what you are asking to be done in regards to hollow gills and replica fish.

I’ve seen some of there work, and I wasn’t really impressed.  For a wall mount in a bar or lobby, it might look fine.

    This type of work…

    …or this…

    …doesn’t get my fish.

That’s a good idea Chris.  I saw this done on “Mounted in Alaska” and it truly looks extremely easy.  I might kill a striper or carp at some point and make a couple just to test it out.

I just purchased some Z-Axis rods in the last 12 months, so I will not be upgrading any time soon. Fortunately I was able to get some decent pricing or I would be pretty bitter right now.

There are a lot of opportunities to fish here in Michigan for a lot of different fish, but I cannot agree with the author.

Roy, this year a lot of water opened up April 1 and some regulations changed on certain waters.  The fish was actually caught above Mio.  The fishing up there is amazing right before the general opener and then the fish get really smart for some reason…

Are you absolutely sure about the April 1st thing?

We have Type 1-4 streams and gear restricted sections.

Great interview.  This season’s lineup couldn’t suit my taste any better.  Your questions were on-point and well-answered by Mr. Richens.

Particularly interesting, question 3 and 4 on warranty were at the forefront of my mind two years ago when looking for a new 4wt.  I passed on a discounted Helix 864-4  because of the uncertainty about the company and my perception that their rods were lagging behind the industry in terms of technology and design.  The latter concern being trivial.  As I look back on it, I should have bought that rod.

I was just thinking the other day that Flip would be a good interview.

The price depends on where your at and what your doing…$500 a day plus tip seems is the going rate  for the guides we book out of Bozeman…A guide boat in Arkansas usually runs around $350 plus tip. Boot Guides usually charge a bit less than boat guides…

This is one of the reasons I will be making these Ozark Fisheries a staple of my destination fishing.

I think these articles are fun to read from the same standpoint as car magazines.

… It’s “sciency” but in no way scientific.  I noticed that their chief complaint with the Scott rods was that they were too stiff, but they didn’t even test the G2, which makes little sense.  I’ve also heard the winners line up suspiciously well with that shop’s top-selling rods.  Correlation or causation?

    Zach

Definitely considerable.  According to the “Buy Now” buttons, his shop doesn’t carry T&T, Scott, Orvis, or Loop.  The highest any of these rods scores is a Tie for #8.  On the other hand, it would not appear that there was a blatant attempt to push new products.  The highly touted NRX ranks 5th.

I’d rather see the best suited line matched to each rod, regardless of AFTMA, but I read the whole thing, including the counterpoints.

I tend to purchase high end, but I’d like to think I spend my money where it makes the most sense to me.

    Follow-up:

Thanks a lot for all your replies.  I fished the 22nd and 23rd with Jeremy.  It was my first experience with dedicated streamer fishing for those larger predatory trout, and I wasn’t disappointed.  We hit the White River below Bull Shoals both days, and I had a great time.

    Day 1:

We started out the day on dirty water, and there were about 45 minutes when we were questioning our decision to hit the White that day.  We hugged the bank and slowed down for a while and the good water came.  We floated the river until after dark when the water started dropping out on us.  We finished the day with a number of fish in the 16-18 inch range.  My fishing partner, Tom, capped the day with a 21 inter after dark.

    Day2:

With a sore arm, I had looked forward to throwing lighter lines and flies on the Norfork.  Fortunately, Jeremy convinced me that we would be better off hunting big fish back at the White.  Consistent generation for several hours, gave us high and very clean water.  It didn’t take long to know we were going to have a good day.  We were able to hook up and land several good fish.

Including my personal best 24 incher.

And when I was physically too sore to cast any more, Jeremy stepped in and brought a few fish to the boat. His best being this fish over 20 inches.

So, to wrap it up. Thanks to everyone here for all the help, and thank you to Jeremy Hunt of Flies & Guides / taneycomotrout.com. Jeremy kept me on the water and gave this beginner a good combination of encouragement and instruction.  I had a great time on the White and learning what it takes to throw these big streamers and bang the banks for big predatory trout.

Jeremy or Chuck will put you on fish for sure.  If they’re running water, Chuck will take you by boat and drift.

There’s also some good feeder creeks that run into Taney that are good in the winter.  Bret Rader has got those places down.

Am looking for a very good winter season here on Taney.  Rainbows are in great shape.  Water levels are down (lakes) and this should yield to no generation periods on Taney.  Patterns are water running in the am and off in the pm.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the input, I’m going to make an effort to stop in on a few of the different shops while I am down that way.
