On our trip to Michigan this past week I read “Backcast” by Lou Urenech which was a bit of a disappointment since the book was billed as a father/son Alaska adventure…but turned out to be about Alaska only a fraction of the story and about 90% about how Urenech had a screwed up childhood, marriage, and relationship with his children and how as an adult he was just now figuring it all out. If someone wants to read it…PM me your address and I’ll send it.
I did however pick up Thomas McGuane’s book “The Sporting Club” which so far has more than made up for “Backcast”. I had forgotten that McGuane grew up in Michigan. I need to read more of his work.
Scott…we brought this mug back from a trip to Vancouver Island…
…and every morning that I pull this mug from the cabinet I think of fishing for chinooks, chums, and cohos with the wife on a wilderness river on the lower part of the island.
