C. MartinoMemberGot mine, just in time for my birthday! Thanks Zach!
C. MartinoMemberDriftwood Trucker for me!
C. MartinoMemberI’m in.
C. MartinoMemberThanks for all the suggestions everyone. Excellent and very helpful. I have the Fly Show here in Jersey this weekend, so I’ll be asking around there as well.
Maybe I should pick up some fly’s there while I’m at it?
Thanks again!
C. MartinoMemberHey Phil, Thanks for responding! I actually did see your post from this year on another board, so I’ll definately be sending you PM’s to get some info. The pic’s were great! We will be down there during that first week of November (11/3 – 11/10), so I guess Bruce and Benji are out, but if there are other guides you could suggest, that would be excellent. Tarpon, Permit and Bonefish would be what I hope to target.
Thanks Again! 🙂
Chris
C. MartinoMemberNOLA is fine ‘after the spill.’ You shouldn’t hesitate to go. In fact, I saw no evidence of the oil spill – just a lot of evidence of our incompetency in helping the people recover from Katrina. Nearly 30% of the population of New Orleans has not moved back yet…and maybe never will.
The Uptown Angler is a good shop to talk with. And there are a lot of other guides working there as well. Since my fishing buddy grew up there, we went pretty high end, staying at the historic Waldorf Astoria Roosevelt and eating a LOT of fantastic food. Salt water guide are $$$. We paid $525 for a “multi-day” trip, while the single day rate is $575!
But man, what a way to get rid of cabin fever!!
Michael,
Excellent to see that you had some good weather, tasty food and great fish! When I went after Christmas this year, the weather was 30 degrees and no fish biting! 🙁
Who turned out to be your guide from Uptown Angler?
Nice report!
C. MartinoMemberI just booked two days with a guide in New Orleans for redfish at $525 per day. And, he “will stop on the way so we can get ourselves (and him) some lunch!”
Michael, Who did you book your trip with?
