Wow, seems like there’s a bunch of people planning trips this year, and looking for info…

Just to jump on the band wagon, I’m planning a trip down to Belize with my wife and anopther couple in early November, and I’m looking for some recommendations on guides or outfitters.  Looks like we’re going to be staying in a house in Placencia, not a resort, so I was wondering if there were some local guide’s that someone could recommend.  We’re planning on staying for a week, and would hope to get in at least 3 day’s of fishing.  I’d be fly fishing, and my buddy would just be using conventional tackle.  I listened to Zach’s interview with Lori-Ann, but I couldn’t convince everyone to go to El Pescador…

So, any help would be great, Thanks!

I have fished in Placencia for about 8 or 9 years and maybe going on 120 days.

Hey Phil, Thanks for responding!  I actually did see your post from this year on another board, so I’ll definately be sending you PM’s to get some info.  The pic’s were great!  We will be down there during that first week of November (11/3 – 11/10), so I guess Bruce and Benji are out, but if there are other guides you could suggest, that would be excellent.  Tarpon, Permit and Bonefish would be what I hope to target.

    Thanks Again!   🙂

Placencia is a wonderful place. I highly recommend that you go to the Pickled Parrot and have a pizza and a glass of Parrot Piss.

I fished with Dermin Shivers a few years back , had 30 plus permit shots.

I think Wayne is from Monkey River.

Ya, Wayne lives in Monkey River but I booked him out of Robert’s Grove. We fished the river one day and I had some baby tarpon on and landed some very nice snook. A few days later the wind was down so we pounded bones and had a shot at a permit.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.  Excellent and very helpful.  I have the Fly Show here in Jersey this weekend, so I’ll be asking around there as well.

Maybe I should pick up some fly’s there while I’m at it?

    Thanks again!

I have been wanting to go to Belize to tour and fish, however, I recently read on one of the fishing forums about how dangerous it was down there (once you are away from the fishing destinations).
