MemberThanks David, you once again gave me a lot to think about.

MemberRound Two: Thanks for feedback in advance.
So # 1 is my favorite. I would like to shoot a whole series in different wet locations. Shoot them in water with ice dripping from the reel, or spinning wildly as the reel and line spit out water with a wide open lens capturing every blurred revolution.

MemberThanks David, I will reset the lights: Starting backlight first and working forward.

MemberI have lived four hours from the border for the better part of the last decade. In my experience as a U.S. citizen, I’ve never really had to worry about the drug dealers, it’s the Federales, that have caused us grief.
When living so close to Mexico, you hear dozens of stories, each worse then the next. The main theme is always American gets pulled over by Mexican Police Officer, then extorted or held for ransom. I’ve never once heard or witnessed a story of Mexican Drug Dealer doing anything to an American other than selling. So instead of recanting second-hand rumor, here is what I’ve experienced.
Twice, I’ve been pulled over while driving and lead to an ATM- since college. Both incidents, were Mexican Police.

MemberOkay I lied, more Ferry dumpage;

My first attempt at intentional slant of horizon line. Saw someone do this with a MT post earlier this year – I kind of liked it.

Aaron Otto
MemberThanks guys.
Tim – the door is always open, you know how to get there. Goodluck with the new role. You going to join us in April? I’m bringing the whole kit so maybe a good opportunity for shots. Shades and relfectors and such, to battle the fish caught at midday light. SW agreed to run something on it the other day….
Did you happen to catch last years trip photos in the Drake this month? Don’t know which ones Tom ended up with but I sent him a couple you and Palo.
As a side note, you see little Hudson tying up some bugs -Made us some proud parents!
hope to see u there, just sent you a note.

MemberI did a similar set up (just as a test) earlier this year. Here is one of the images with a nice big watermark on it (sorry about that).

The lure is suspended from the top section of my fly rod that I placed in the umbrella holder on a light stand. I lit it with 2 sunpak 383 strobes.
Congrats for getting the job for the catalog, those are good paying jobs which means more gear!
Chad – was that one in still life table or lighbox with hole in roof?
I really like the shot!
thanks,

MemberRound two – Advice taken and a little improv.
Took suction cups with clips on them. Tied on end of 7x to the hooks the other to the clips (one one on each cup). Attached the cups to the top back end of the still life table.
Took 40 lbs Flouro and tied it to a spare tripod behind the camera.
Added bubbles with the burn and doge tool in PS.
________________________________________________________
Same bait, same set up without bubbles, but added a sheet of Velum over the top of the bait about four inches above.

________________________________________________________
The setup on this was a bit more complicated. The bait is four inches tall and very hard to balance. Also, I can’t seem to get the anchor line out of the shot. Finally ran it through an HDR engine to get the hollow-translucent effect.

I appreciate everyone’s thoughts & comments – I think it’s helping to make a better result each time.
Thank you,
Aaron Otto
MemberNo worries Corrie, I’m sure I’ll continue my habit of buy first figure out later- LOL.
