I’ve never read anything of his Simon, but do recall some interesting passages by Tony Jensen in “Trout of the Tongariro” of him guiding Stu Apte at Turangi, and yes, it does seem like he’s a real character.

You can judge a man by the size of things which annoy him.

Remind me closer to the clave Clark and I’ll try to bring it.
He writes about the Mataura and hooking a beast he estimates around 14lbs.
Havn’t seen one of them in there for a while

I’m reading Trout Reflections by David M Carroll.  He’s a gifted naturalist, artist, and author (a recent MacArthur Foundation Fellow) who is mostly into turtles, but wrote this story of a year in the life of a brook trout that is just masterful.  If you like this one, you’ll also probably enjoy his Swampwalker, which won the John Burroughs medal.

Yale Anglers’ Journal has been hit hard by the economy. They’re looking for financial contributions. I hope they pull through.

If you like to kick back after reading all the hard core FF stuff.
Try Joseph Heywood, woods cop mystery series.
And Randy Wayne White, Doc Ford series.

Two very good FF authors that write murder mystery also.
    just plain fun.

Just finished The Alaska Chronicles by Miles Nolte. It is the book form of the postings he did on the Drake forum during the summer of 2007 about his guiding at an Alaskan lodge. Very entertaining read and good insight into what the life of a guide is truly like. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a quick and easy read.
