I don’t think it’s the difference of opinion that is causing us to butt heads, it’s the total reeducation you are giving me (I’ll speak for myself) on fly lines.

Are any of the “improvements” in fly lines over the last 20 or so years real or are they just marketing gimmicks? Is it just a marketing ploy that all lines are not the same stiffness, do not have the same texture, coatings and so on that they had then? Since you say much of this is just marketing, do your lines save us money by doing away with these?

I do have one opinion though that is nothing but opinion, as far as color, all lines could be light, dark, or clear as far as my use.

Out of respect to you and others on the site the last word is yours, I’m checking out.

I am not giving anyone a reeducation on anything. I said I respect your opinions.

Our lines are great modern day fly lines. Its not that our lines do not offer these features… The question is should a customer be paying $90 for these extra features and how much “better” does it make the line itself?

Thanks for your time Randy I would like to further discuss getting a line to you in an email, I hate bad blood and was not here to argue but clear up speculation on one of our products. Maybe I can send you a sample line? If you like it you can then pay for it, if not send it back.

As said to everyone on the board if the line does not meet your standards we take care of issues right away. I am confident in these lines and customers (who have actually held and fished them) in the last few weeks or so are praising them.

Some people will not like the lines. There is no way around that but I think most will love them.

While I’m reluctant o do so…..I have a friend that orders a lot of gear from a China Distributor. Last week he got the following fly line for $20 bucks…no shipping costs. Turns out….it is a Rio Gold line that was re-packaged….although some of the Rio documentation was still in the package. It did not come with the plastic case, but instead, was in a Ziploc bag. His reasoning…if the line is crap….he’s only out $20 bucks.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gold-Weight-Forward-Floating-Fly-Line-5wt-Fly-Fishing-Line-5-weight-90ft-WF5F-/181334848987?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a386635db

He also has purchased CNC machined reels for less than $30 bucks each. I’ve seen them and they look like decent quality.

I say that to say this……it looks like the Chinese are marketing their product line to individuals now (via Ebay)…. as well as U.S. retailers. If this catches on….it will be interesting to see how it affects the industry. I’m guessing the local fly shops will feel the pinch first.

Zach….I think you touched on this with the discussion about fly rod manufacturers importing Chinese rods that were sourced from two or three Chinese manufacturers.

    This is really sad.

    Shadowflyfishing,
I honestly believe that if you gave us some relevant information about your product, you would have at least a few people on this forum interested in trying it out. So far you have offered up numerous posts that danced around every question posed and basically told us that people loved them because they were neat and good and come in pretty colors.

While the users of this forum may not represent your target market, I do think your business plan is brilliant and I plan on ripping it off. Effective immediately I plan to construct and distribute Large Hadron Colliders (particle accelerators to the lay person), that are guaranteed to please even the most discriminating consumer. But here is the kicker…my Hadron Colliders come in any color your brain can dream up. And I mean ANY color.

My hadron colliders come in medium and large at present, but we will be offering additional sizes as demand increases. These suckers are made in China and boy did I save nickel on that fact (not that it provides any benefit to you as the buyer). Everyone who uses my Colliders are telling me that they are indeed awesome as advertised. Take it from me as a person with no reputation in the industry that this is legit. Pretty much you can rest assured that you will have no idea what you are actually purchasing but I can flat guarantee you will love it. Anyone interested please PM me.

Well, it looks like it’s my lucky day. I just mentioned to the woman who lets me live with her that it sure would be nice to have a hadron collider to put down at my cabin. She was in agreement. I was thinking it would be nice to have around at the barbecues when the fishing is slow. Also, it will give the moose something to talk about in the winter. You did not say how much they are but since I am sure you are totally honest and really know your thing, I’ll take one. If it works out as you promise and I know it will, I’ll get one for my neighbor to enjoy at his cabin. There are 13 cabins in my area and I bet everyone will want one. How much will shipping be? I am hoping you can get this in the USPS medium flat rate box. Are you also going to be marketing particles to use in the collider? Wow, I might want to be your Alaska distributor. As far as color, can you do something that will match my sweeties eyes?

apparently I missed a few questions because I feel I have taken the time and have answered everyone questions in this three page thread quoting them.

Everything else has been answered, they are made in Asia, the taper chart is coming soon, there are no wear and tear reviews yet and they are just being sent out.

Please, collect every question (regarding the fly line) I have missed, post it, and I will answer them and we can call it a day. I am not dancing around anything lol. People do love them because they are good, affordable, and they come in pretty colors that is a fact.

also, you say users on the forum are not in our target market.. Can you explain this? I am curious to know what you think our target market is?

We are currently in contact with manufacturers here in PA to get our fly reel prototype mass produced. The fly line will continue to be made in Asia for now. The quality and price are both outstanding and as a start-up business just launching months ago that is huge for us right now.

Hey Steve thanks for the post!

These manufacturers have been selling their products on ebay for years.

Whats hurting the fly shops is the fact that all of the companies are selling directly off of their websites now…. We do this but it is something you just have to do this day in age… We display our products in our local fly shop at no cost. They get profit just for selling and displaying our fly rods. We are testing this right now. There is no risk for them and they make a nice chunk of cash just for selling and displaying our product. Hopefully we can continue to expand on this as it is huge for the shops and would be an awesome turning point on how the shops go about purchasing their inventory. Our shops are beneficial to everything in fly fishing. There are some companies around now that are “online only” and make a killing.. This is not something we are striving for and is something we shook right out of the gate..

I love the fact that a customer can walk into a shop, see our product, and hold it before they purchase it.

Unfortunately some fisherman do not even need to hold, fish, or see a product before they already have an opinion on its quality..lol

I can say however the line you posted in the ebay link is not the line we are selling.

    Thanks Steve!

Your lines are made overseas. That doesn’t bother me. I drove a Toyota one time.
They come in neat colors. That is nice.
They are inexpensive. That is a huge plus.
But what the hell are you selling me? The only thing I care about when buying a line is how it is tapered, how it is constructed and what it is meant to do. Just provide us with some information on how these lines were designed to be fished and we will start listening. Until then I will tell you bluntly, no one on this board cares that you can give us lines in unique colors. Start selling your product for how it performs and not how it looks. I said that this board was not your target market because the people on this board fish A LOT and know what they want. If you can’t tell us something more than “people like them”, no one here is going to take you seriously.

    Phil,
The Colliders are $20 and I can assure you that you will love them. Pretty much everyone does and I have also heard of people tweeting about them on Myspace (because of the colors they come in).

The taper chart is being made now, that was said at least 5 times.

Not sure if you noticed but I was not on here marketing my product. I came on here to clear up some false statements not market the fly lines. Some fishermen do not care about the taper of their lines but rather would just get out and fish. This is why people are buying them already without even knowing the tapers.

For the fishermen who really care, and a lot do, the taper chart is being made now and I know this is important and am trying my best to get around to it. The lines have been out a little over a week and being I have to color these myself every order, I have been very busy. I was able to get around to weighing the grains.

I asked you what you thought our target market was, you never answered…

I also asked you to post the questions I did not answer. Do you have any I can clear up because there were none in your previous post Andrew. I would like to finish this thread off by answering all the questions right now. We are pretty much just repeating page 1-2 again.

Oh, and people are not just saying, they are pretty and inexpensive. They are also saying they lay out well and float nicely.

    Thanks for the post!

This conversation is not really going anywhere. I thought we might get some real info on the lines but I am clearly talking to a wall. I’m out.

I have not tried the fly lines. However, I did order one of the Hadron Colliders in hot pink.I have not received it yet, but I did receive an email that it is being colored, and as soon as the paint dries it will be shipped. I was also informed that everyone else who ordered one in hot pink really liked it. I asked for information on the size of the collider so I can prepare a pad for it but was told they still have not had time to measure it since they are so busy painting.
