Hey Kat –
Compound words have always been with us in English – that’s our old Anglo-Saxon roots coming out. Personally, I like to compound words like rodmaker together. However, I think technically, you’re supposed to use them separately as an adjective (rod) modifying a noun (maker). This doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the stuff I mentioned in the initial post, which is a an adjective modifying another adjective modifying a noun (“fly fish fisherman”).
If someone claimed to be a cane rod rodmaker, I would probably roll my eyes, but just plain ‘rodmaker’ doesn’t bother me (or even ‘bamboo rodmaker’ or ‘cane rodmaker’ which are at least adjectives modifying a compound noun).

The Simms Dry Creek Roll Top might just be the best of both worlds.

Matt,
I too am interested in seeing the setup you are using for those fly shots. I have been researching off camera flash and thinking about shooting some of the surf flies that we are using on the left coast. Thanks in advance.
There is a guy who has linked to here who has a website on fly fishing in Singapore – if you Google a bit I’m sure you can find it.

Yeah, here’s the original article I read:
“Watching the animals as they returned to the same spot to collect food each night, Mr Rodriguez decided on his dream shot.
He eventually captured it using a photographic trap…”
The big shop in Jackson is Jack Dennis’ shop on the square, which can definitely handle it, but I had a great time floating the Snake with Westbank Anglers’ guides when I was out there in 2005.
