MemberFirst off I am not a photographer.I am a point and shoot guy.
I snagged the first affordable waterproof camera I found ,Pentex W20 7mp. It has served me well and I have seen some people really make it shine. This is a great tutorial http://flyartstudio.com/wordpress/?p=323
These are just quick examples off my camera.

MemberI was just thinking about a new backpack and BAM! http://www.midcurrent.com/news/2009/07/fly-fishing-backpacks.html
thank you

MemberStarted with a vest then moved to a fanny, spent quite awhile with a chest pack and now use a backpack. Carry everything I need to fish and then some. I keep a days worth box in my pocket for quick changes.

You want to go to Townsend, which is on the Gatlinburg side but nowhere near as crowded. Â Go over to LittleRiverOutfitters.com, which is a sponsor of this site. Â Byron and Paula Begley are great people with, I swear to you, the nicest fly shop you will ever set foot in. Â That thing is about as close as a fly shop can come to perfect.
Good luck,
ZachAbsolutely true! Took my first trip to the smokies last fall.I walked into LRO expecting to get gouged but instead walked out with some flies ,leaders and a map with highlighted areas to fish for less than I spent on food that day.I was floored at how nice they are there.
