MemberThanks Zach…I about screwed up ’cause I was about to pack it in the cargo bag. The trip is from Ft. Lauderdale to Eleuthera in a twin engine from Continental Airlines, all of about 1.25 hrs. But I will definately carry it aboard with my reels.

MemberKeep it comin’ boys. I just had a trip to Eleuthera fall in my lap coming up in mid-April for bones and permit. My new D80’s going to get a workout, and hopefully, so will I. This is great information and perfect timing.

MemberYes, I now realize they are yellow in color and I understand that they are now believed to be limited to a very small region in southern Florida. BUT it is a fact that their range used to be recognized as extending as far as Arkansas. Now what I heard could have easily been a different species but the Florida Panther did roam here once and there has even been talk of reintroducing it since it is having so much trouble down there in Florida.
Agreed…never meant to imply otherwise.

MemberI’ve never said I’ve seen one but I still stand by what I’ve heard. Your correct though, I assumed the Florida Panthers are black for some reason, probably got confused with the “Florida Jaguar” thing like Zach
You shouldn’t need to google search too hard, Cameron has already posted the agfc link outlining the kills, the last confirmed one being in 1975.
Look I’m not some moron and I’m not saying this happened right on the banks of the Little Red or something, I’m talking deep back i the sticks in northern Johnson County miles and miles away from even the smallest paved road.
I don’t know about the color of what I heard but I know it sounded just like the panther screaming at the zoo and every sound clip I’ve pulled up so I don’t know what the hell else it could have been besides a large cat of some sort.
It wouldn’t be the first time something people thought was gone showed up again and so I’m not really concerned if you think I’m full of horse pucky or not. When you look at whats happening in Missouri and Iowa right now I’d say it looks like there’s a good chance something is moving around over here.
Florida panthers are yellow, and for the most part, hang out in and around the Everglades. Highway 29 is loaded with “Panther Crossing” signs when nearing their habitat. Also, a lot of money has been spent building overpasses that allow our cats to cross underneath the highways to avoid being killed by traffic. I’ve only seen one many years ago as it walked out on a log in the Kissimmee River to drink, however, before his/her arrival, the scream it let out sounded like a woman being murdered. Scared the hell out of me and I’ll never forget it.

MemberWhat say I give ya a hundred bucks for it? Huh?
Nice camera…I still miss my FE’s…gary henderson
MemberHeck, I even took the “Capt” part off the front, sounded too, say, stiff….it’s just a piece of paper anyway. 😉

MemberStill playing in the Indian River and Skeeter Lagoon, but like you, the cold and nasty wind has kept me in. Last trip for me was about a month ago. Took a buddy of mine that had never been sight-fishing and we kicked up about 300 fish in the river. They were spooky as all get out until about 11 o’clock. I got off the tower and he decided to wade with me, but he doesn’t flyfish…yet. I picked up five and he got two. He’s been asking a lot of questions about long rods lately!
I wanted to get out tomorrow, not sure what the wind is going to do.

MemberGraphites are pretty expensive, but well worth it when you lift that thing about 500 to 1000 times a day.
Df, you catchin’ any fish over there? (not tryin’ to highjack the tread)

MemberI came out of the closet! ;D

MemberZack…do not get a fiberglass push pole!!! Very heavy, and flex way too much! I had a composite on my Hewes and liked it just fine until I bought a Loomis graphite. It’s stiff and light as a feather. Mine is 22′, however, I’m pretty sure they come in different lengths. I bought my son in law a Stiffy for his skiff, and since he is learning to pole and fish the flats, he won’t know the difference…unless I let him use mine on my skiff. But like I said, fiberglass is heavy and is extremely wobbly (too much flex).

MemberI like it a lot. To me, it appears, with the shading, the light is actually coming from a window. perhaps. Very nice.
