    Zach,

I agree 100% and the Guide is what I’m looking for (unless I run across a cheap one on craigslist that doesn’t perfectly meet my specs-saw one for $100 last week).

Unfortunately I can’t imagine the wife letting me put a boat & trailer at my house so it doesnt work for me but man this would be awesome if she would.

    Zach,

I thought they moved off the flats as it warmed up and then came back as it cooled off?

    Marty,

That is a nice mess of fish.

    Pete,

Did you have any luck or was it too cold to get out?

    C.B. & Aaron,

Birmingham to Charlotte is a hike so if you work this deal out and want to store it halfway for a couple months I can find space in my garage for it.

    ;D

So I’ve been looking around (think I’ve settled on a canoe probably an Old Towne Guide or Saranac in the 15′ range) and from what I see my cost differential between new and used is a couple hundred bucks (which isn’t surprising since the new cost is in the $500-$600 range).

Aside from the extra weight when poling why would 2-3 50# bags of sand up front not solve this issue?

I just can’t wait until I can engage intelligently in this discussion.

    Mike,

It was different paragraphs you could probably get away with it…maybe not with this crowd though.

Regarding gear I was reading an article with a guy that makes his own jigs with split shot/crappie hook/yarn. He said he fishes in submerged trees and will break off tons of rigs so this is most affordable solution.

I might actually have the patience to put something like that together LOL.

    Randy,

Not only will neither group likely be honest with us the even scarier part is how little they know about the actual impact.
