Chad I thought about a hydrofoil but my area has some really hard bottoms and I feel like I’d eventually break it off.

    I sugest a Supreme with a Jet.

You looking to trade yours for what I’ve got in this boat?

    #54229

    Probably not.

    Mike,

I was thinking the same thing.

I have a Gheenoe, minutes to days away from pulling the trigger on an L48, already have the jet in storage

Zach, I’ve followed you rebuilding the Gheenoe on FB and now your new addition. First let me say you’ve done an amazing job. It was a lot of fun to follow along while you did this project.

My question is what size Gheenoe did you get?

    JT –

It’s the 15’6″ High Sider, which was the basic Gheenoe for years.

I just bought a Riverhawk B-60 and I must say I am very pleased with the width and the comfort while walking/ standing/ fishing. I took out the front seat and put the Yeti tie down kit in, effectively making the Yeti a full time seat as well as a casting platform in salt. The middle console is perfect to row/ paddle from and I am in process of re-enforcing the sidewalls to facilitate an oar lock system. In the back I currently have only 1 seat but that is being replaced by a poling platform with a turnbuckle mounting system. Old 15 horse Johnson on there at the moment but I hope a 20 horse 4 stroke Tohatsu lies in the near future.

Awesome boat and so far I have floated Musky water in TN, the White in AR, and the Hooch in ATL. I have also been on the Coosa in AL which is huge and more like a lake, it has taken them all in stride so far. The sidewalls are the biggest drawback in my opinion. If the water is rough and you are at full throttle (20-24 MPH) you WILL be getting wet. Good luck!

The sidewalls on all Gheenoe-style craft are downright scary low in any kind of serious water, especially lakes with other boats present.

    Zach, CB,
That’s definitely good advice. Ill keep looking around a bit. All boats are a compromise as they say. Trouble is I want a Hells Bay on a kayak budget!

One more quick question. How do the towee boats fit into this equation?

Love what you’ve done with the boat.

I picked up an ’06 Classic hull just after Christmas and have a plan to rebuild the interior to more suit my needs. I haven’t started cutting her up yet…

Got the painted parts back from Jay Malyon last night at the Film Festival.

If this thing is going to howl I’ll wait til you take it out a few times before I ask to go for a ride.

It all worked. I did lose 1 mph off the top end (from 18 to 17mph) but the tabs make the boat handle like a sports car, and I was running level with no cooler in the boat at all.

Nice video Zach, the ride looks nice.

Bull Sluice is a nice testing ground.

    Looks good Zach.

Shouldn’t your bunks be moved toward the centerline of the trailer? That would allow the stern/transom area(and the heavy motor) to ride directly on the bunk. I’m sure the 4-stroke puts a lot of stress on the transom when you are on bumpy roads.

Regardless, you should use a support on the lower unit to keep the motor from bouncing, especially since you just increased the leverage against the transom with the jack plate and the setback.
Good to hear the boat is leveled out now.

    Jon –

I agree; if I can get a transom saver on there I will.
